This one may effect rookies for rd 1.

Leppitsch: Jaden McGrath's injury isn't as bad as we thought. Mathieson is still being assessed

Knew Beams has not trained with main group yet but was expected to be this week so something must have blown up over the last few days.

Shame about Beams. Hope he is back soon. The game is better with him playing it.

Confirmation of Beams out for at least the first 2 rounds.

Good news for those that may be tempted by Rich as defender as he will definitely be playing similar to today.

Yep, just about confirms my decision. There's just something about his performance today that makes me feel he's in for a good year, 16 contested possessions is exactly what I wanted to see.

Have had him for a while now and was kinda hoping for a quiet game today. But he should still be a decent POD

HAWTHORN midfielder Liam Shiels is set to miss up to six weeks after suffering a hairline fracture in his wrist.

Shiels, 24, was injured in the final quarter of the Hawks' NAB Challenge match against North Melbourne on Saturday night.

Young Hawk forward looms as Roughead replacement

"Scans yesterday revealed Liam has a hairline fracture in his right wrist,” Hawthorn football manager told Fagan toldthe club's website.

"What that effectively means is he’ll be out for somewhere between four to six weeks.

"Liam has had a really good pre-season to date and it’s a disappointing result at this stage of the year."

The three-time premiership player was first for tackles and third for clearances at the club in 2015.

None of the cheap Hawk rookies did anything overly impressive during NAB so I'm thinking Shiels spot will go to Langford or O'Rourke
