As much as you don't rate Masten I can't see him not being best 22 haha

RaisyDaisy

Come on eaglesman, you're way off

Masten hasn't been dropped in 4 years and now he's not best 22? You might not rate him, but many more do in terms of our side and his input. He's an important player for us and easily in the 22.

I'm certain his name doesnt even get mentioned in team selection meetings in terms of who makes way for someone coming in

Firstly I have never said he wasn't best 22, I said he isn't best 18 and I standby that. Secondly, it's not that I don't rate him it's just we have better and more valuable players. Thirdly, You are so sure he is walk up starter but tell me who's spot he takes from this lineup(best18)

Sheppard Emac Schofield
Wellingham McGovern hurn
Jetta priddis gaff
Lecras darling yeo
Lycett Kennedy Cripps
Naitanui shuey redden

Sheed Duggan Hutchings masten

You suggested dropping Lycett earlier, I'll allow that if it means McGovern pinch hits in the ruck. But this would only mean Mitch brown comes in to the backline.
I appreciate you are eagles fans, but you are kidding yourself if u think masten is going to drop anyone from the best 18.
No player between picked 19-22 is what I would call "easily best 22".

Lastly this is not a "I hate masten rant" but all I'm suggesting is if he misses the first 4 rounds as reported, with the form I anticipate the likes of Duggan sheed and Hutchings showing I can't see them rushing to drop one of them just because masten is available.

I assure You I am not way off here at all.

Masten is a lock in both the 22 or the 18 for mine.

If you blokes think he is a walk up best 18 - u lot have no idea about the game at all

Haha I don't mind if you have a different opinion, but don't go having a ping at us for having "no idea about the game at all" based on your very very unique opinion.

Essentially, you've just told the 95% of the West Coast fan base who have Masten in their best 18 that they have no idea about the game.

Turn it up mate

RaisyDaisy

Yeah, I have to agree with Ele - a bit silly to assume we are all clueless for thinking Masten is best 18. We all have our own views, but the guy has played every week for 4 years. I agree he will need a week or two in the WAFL but when he is ready, someone will make way for him. Duggan is going to be a long term gun, but right now he doesn't get games over Masten

And who cares about best 18? We field 22 each week

eaglesman

I'll quote this later ... But I asked a simple question ..: displace him from the best 18 and justify it, neither of you have done so

And do you think that a player not in our best 18 should be regarded as a walk up to our side ? Surely not

Simple questions ...

We all eagles fans here

At the moment, I'd have Masten in front of Redden, Jetta, Sheed, Hutchings & Duggan, in that order.

I'd take Redden over Masten but the rest is fair

Jetta could be the difference to our side lads ... His value to the team will be through the roof this year ... He is a 90 metre player! Come on!

I'm glad you said "at the moment" it will change soon enough

If you wish to continue debating on Masten's place in the Eagles team please go over to the Eagles team board and into the best 22 thread.

Thank you
