His problem is largely his disposal efficiency. Its much better than it was but it's still below some of his competitors. Once he's fit I can't see him not playing though

Last year I think he went at 78% DE ... Vast improvement on recent years ... I think he has been week coached/instructed to know his limitations with regards to his strength and weaknesses .... All I am saying is if he is out in early rounds, he won't be displacing a sheed Duggan or hutch as these blokes will kill it this year, sheed and Duggan are great decision makers and users of the pill and hutch can run with and find his own footy

Promising year for our eagles lads

Dayne Beams

This is still a little worrying for those considering him including myself.

"Just a few light handballs and kicks to warm up for @beama9 today and then back to the club. Still has quite a bit to tick off b4 playing."

He would have to play at least 1 NAB game to be considered.
I really want to start Beams but agree with your last sentence.
It is slightly concerning....he may become Priddis in my team.

With Masten down it looks even better to have Yeo.

It's just a matter of opinion and only time will tell

Imo he is ahead of Lycett and the rest of the bench you listed. I know we like our up and coming players like Duggan, Sheed, Hutch etc but they are not ahead of Masten atm. Yes they are cleaner and have more upside but right now they're not ahead of him. I don't think Lycett will play most weeks either unless NicNat is injured

We'll just have to wait and see :)

In the minds of most that would be true ... But come
Round 3 and 4 hutch sheed and Duggan will have form on the board to not make them droppable ... With limited rotations I can see us playing without 2 ruckman (not buying the McGovern ruck hype)

Chris Yarren could miss the first 6 rounds due to an ongoing calf injury.

broad a chance?

Yeah possibly, he is set to play the NAB Cup due to his performance in the intra-club game, so we will have to wait and see how he fairs. Hopefully he will shine and start Rd 1 in the defense.

Yet he has been training there in the preseason as well as down forward and was mentioned in an article about him being available to help in the ruck

Yeah I hope that he does play that role, would rather him do that, drop lycett and play brown down back

I just don't think Simpson will elect to do this in the long run

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-02-15/crows-to-play-it-safe-with-brad-crouch-after-midfielder-pulls-up-sore

Is there a slight concern now for Crouch as well?

"ADELAIDE will adopt a "risk-free" policy with Brad Crouch during the NAB Challenge after the luckless midfielder pulled up with general soreness from his starring role in Friday's intraclub match, coach Don Pyke says. "

After a year of pretty much no footy i'd expect him to pull up with some general soreness. Not stressing about it.

Bit harsh lads. Masten is easily best 22

Might need a week or two in the WAFL just to get his fitness and form back but he walks into the 22

Sheppard Emac Schofield
Wellingham McGovern hurn
Jetta priddis gaff
Lecras darling yeo
Lycett Kennedy Cripps
Naitanui shuey redden
Sheed Duggan Hutchings masten

Next 4: Hill brown Ellis butler

He definitely is not best 18 mate so scraping onto the bench is hardly easily best 22.

You'd have both Jetta and Redden ahead of him?

Its hard, because Redden's inside game is better than Masten's inside and Jetta's outside game is better than Masten's outside.

Its not that simple though and I suspect we will see a scenario where all three are in the 22 for long periods this season. Whether thats Jetta wing, Masto hff, Redden on ball or otherwise I'm not sure. I deem it unlikely that Masto will find himself outside the best 22 for very long at all this season. Midfield rotations are hugely important with the interchange cap and Masto is our best endurance runner at the club.

Yeah I wanted to compare Masten to Stanton. Both exceptional runners, and maybe Stanton's not in Essendon's best midfield but he (would be) still one of the first picked.

Yes I have redden n Jetta clearly ahead of masten

He is very much on the fringe 19th -26th player
