I don't think I will consider him even if named rd 1, high chance of getting rested a number of times during the year
See other thread.  Certainly not in my line up to much risk involved compared to libba, crouch etc

Hardly the time to speculate on rookie selections...

*speculates further*

...I'm not so sure I rate his game from a fantasy, at least SC, point of view anyway.

I know there was post about JOM, but both JOM and Swallow are no certainties to line up Rd1

Some good intel here:

There's plenty more in the article so it's worth having a read, but here's a few

JARRAD McVEIGH (Sydney)

The Swans co-captain will be unable to run until January and it’s doubtful whether he’ll be ready for the start of the NAB Challenge. McVeigh had an operation to repair knee cartilage and has been restricted to training indoors and bike riding.

JAEGER O’MEARA/DAVID SWALLOW (Gold Coast)

The gun midfield duo had their season’s wrecked by injury but are on track to be ready for the Suns’ season opener against Essendon on March 26. Swallow began running on the AlterG machine, a partial weight-bearing therapy, two weeks ago and returned to outdoor running last Thursday, while O’Meara began on the AlterG this week

NATHAN FREEMAN (St Kilda)

The former no. 10 draft pick’s injury curse has followed him to St Kilda with another hamstring injury derailing his pre-season. The injury is to the same hamstring that ruined his two years at Collingwood but Saints say the it’s to a different area of the muscle. Regardless, it’s a major setback and the Saints will need to be ultra conservative with his rehab.

SCOTT SELWOOD (Geelong)

Despite being among Geelong’s much-publicised trade haul, Selwood is not an automatic selection in Geelong’s best side and he’s already behind the eight ball after major off-season ankle surgery. The 25-year-old is still eight weeks away from joining full training as the Cats take a conservative path with his rehab.

Any news on the drunken midget Matty Jaensch? Is he on track to make it back for round 1?

He's going ok still in a modified program, doubt he'd be available round 1 closer to the byes more likely.

Damn. I know he was initially gunning to be ready round 1. Having injured the knee in May it is a possibility but the rehab would have to be going pretty well. Out he goes from my team if that's the case.
