Nice team and structure - Duryea is the worry for me as well - Did not make Hawks best 22 on a couple of occassions but really put it together in finals series where he came to notice. Watch his role in NAB cup and interactions with Gibson, Birchall and co to see what role he is playing. Still only averaged 65 unsubbed so would need a big step up to be a keeper at D6 - Go with gut though.
Merrett a slight concern now that he will be in an underperforming team but he may rise.

Money Shot

Yeah Dureya I don't see being a keeper. Apart from that it's an amazing side.

Thanks for the feedback, Smith and Duryea are unknowns but are less risky than other otions, both will push top 10 and at their price I feel are too good to pass up on (thats only if they fire early, ALA not Newnes last year).
Duryea actually averaged 75 last year at around 80 unsubbed. Having watched him over the past couple of years i believe this year is the year he will break out, he loves the rebound/Mid role and he can now play that role. He certainly is risky but given how top defenders scores deviate year to year, i think its worth the risk.

If i can find the extra cash come round 1 (through downgrading rookies or harwood), then i will probably upgrade Duryea to a more consistent premium :)

Have  changed my team slightly in response to feedback, I have downgraded Harwood to a rookie and upgraded Duryea + Zerrett to Dahlhas and Simpson. This means I play 2 rooks in defence but now I have 2 more secure premiums, especially since Simpson is pretty much guaranteed to be top 10 again. This is how my team looks now:

Backs:
Simpson, Kolodjashnij, Bartel, Smith, Otten, Brown (Byrne, Hartley)
Mids:
Pendlebury, Ablett, Gray, Rockliff, Liberatore, Crouch, Mills, Ellis (Gresham, Jansen, Cunningham)
Rucks:
Martin, Naitinui (King)
Forwards:
Martin, Dahlhaus, Gunston, Simpkin, Kennedy, Cockatoo (Kerridge, Petracca)

The main issue I have with this is the amount of premiums out round 13 (6+Crouch/14), swapping Simpson to a similar priced player of another bye round would be perfect but IMO for that price he is the safest selection that I don't already have.

Really nice team. Just an idea that I'll let you think about. This is something I realized with my team. Why have a 500k defender - simpson when you can have a 500k fwd - barlow. He is much younger and will ave 10 more imo. Plus the def rookies aren't looking half bad either. Also Cockatoo isn't best 22 and perhaps you could downgrade Ellis and Goldy can come in for Martin. Gunston will be heavily affected by Roughy going down. He will be our number one forward and won't be able to come up the ground. Just don' think he can ave 95+ when he's playing on rance, taylor, talia week in week out. Nice squad either way. Would love your thoughts on my team. Good luck mate.

Thanks for the feedback!
I think there is a lot more to take into account with the fwd vs def premium argument, team balance/cash generation/rookie selection can all be more important than scoring potential. Rookies are still placeholders so not too fussed at this point in time, picking the more expensive rookies I feel better shape my team anyway so I will wait until NAB to downgrade.
I agree with you about Gunstan, he will have to work harder as he is now the main target. Still not sure whether that means his scoring will suffer, hopefully we get an insight before the season starts :)

Slight change, i am not sure if i am moving forward or backwards but i really like this team :)
Premium  Mid-Pricer (Bench)

DEF: Simpson, Kolodjashnij, Bartel, Smith, Otten, Brown (Byrne, Hartley)

MID: Fyfe, Pendlebury, Ablett, Rockliff, Liberatore, Crouch, Mills, Gresham (Polkinghorne, Jansen, Cunningham)

RUC: Martin, Naitinui (King)

FWD: Martin, Dahlhaus, Barlow, Simpkin, Kennedy, Cockatoo (Kerridge, Petracca)

13/14/15
7/3/4

Pros: Strong midfield with 4 potential UBER captain options, with Fyfe being semi-unique amongst the more hard-core teams. I am more balanced come the bye rounds, but still round 13 heavy. The defence and forward line both have quite strong premiums who will hopefully all be top 10 average come seasons end.

Cons: Too round 13 bye heavy. No Gunston and playing two defence rookies could be extremely risky come round 1, hopefully some pop up round 1. My first upgrade areas will be Forward and Back.

Any feedback will be greatly appreciated :)

Like the structure and Team.  Simpson I am wary of and Fyfe is a watch in NAB cup.

With the byes later this year you can work your trades to recfify the prem structure in Rd 13.  Or you could adjust by swapping prems around.

Just wait for rookies in Rd 1 to finalise.

Fyfe is a risk as he got injured and I think his not going to be a good as he was last year. I would watch him in the NAB Cup.

Also looks like Lyons is setting him to play more time forward this year
Past history would suggest that would need to be deep forward for him to score goals  - anything set +/- 5 m from the arc he was suspect.
While marks get you points but he needs to score goals if forward. Bit more of a pack buster role and setting up others IMO

Every year people make up excuses why Ablett, Pendlebury or Fyfe won't score as well. ATM Fyfe is at full training and regardless of his position in the NAB cup if he is fit i am locking him in. He plays ridiculously well up forward, i still see an average of 125+ if he is 60/40 mid/fwd.

Exactly! I have him locked in along with pendles, Ablett and Rocky (top 4 hopefully). I see him ave 125+ whereas a sloane/Jpk type probably 110-112. Well worth it imo. Love the team btw.
