West Coast Eagles fans would be accustomed to seeing the likes of Dean Cox, Adam Selwood and Beau Waters putting their bodies on the line for the club.

Next weekend they â€" and a handful of other past players â€" are going to push the pain barrier in the name of charity.

They are teaming up together to help raise awareness and funding for the Cure MND Foundation to assist in the fight to find a cure for the debilitating disease.

With their good friend Neale Daniher being affected by MND, the OWLS (older, wiser, larger, slower) will compete against each other in the Mandurah Half Ironman, on Sunday November 8.

They will form teams of three to complete one leg each of the event, which consists of a 2km swim, 90km ride and 21km run.

Teams include -
1. Dean Cox (swim), Jaymie Graham (ride), Adam Selwood (run)
2. Kasey Green (swim), Callum Chambers (ride), Rowan Jones (run)
3. Beau Waters (solo)

“It’s a great cause and I couldn’t think of a better reason to get motivated to do some training,” Selwood said.

“We have all been touched by the disease in a very personal way since the diagnosis of Neale Daniher with MND and we would like to do what we can to assist in funding research to find a cure.

“Neale had a strong influence on everyone at our club when he was General Manager of Football and he has continued to have a massive impact in raising awareness and badly needed funds for MND research.

“We wanted to do our bit and hopefully we can also raise a bit of money â€" as well as a bit of sweat â€" in Mandurah next weekend. There’s a couple of OWLS teams competing, so I’m sure they will be some friendly rivalry on the course.”

Teams of 3 and then there's Beau competing solo, still a beast haha
