If Australia draw they retain the Trans-Tasman trophy.
Who cares! Go and try to win a test match in Johnno's last

don't really wanna give NZ a sniff. even though IMO we've got enough runs/NZ not enough overs - we should play it safe in this position

What do you guys reckon of Mitchell Marsh?

Best long-term prospect I reckon, will take some time to produce consistently though.

Doesn't make enough runs to be a number 6 batsman.

To be a number 6 all rounder then he needs to bowl more and get wickets which he isn't doing enough yet either.

He just needs to play more test cricket to get better.

Bit harsh on him there.

I think we have high expectations on All Rounders. Yes they bat in the top 6, but we can't expect the AR we pick to be good enough to bat in the top 6 and bowl with the new ball if needed. If you want them to score 40 an innings and take 2 wickets from 20 overs an innings you're kidding yourself and need to stop watching Kallis highlights :P

You don't NEED 5 guys that can bowl superbly, if you have it that's great, but you should really focus on getting the first 4 correct. That's why I like a guys like Moeen in the England side playing as the AR, because he's a bat that can chip in enough with the ball (I don't think he should be the lead spinner though).

Mitch Marsh is just in a form slump with both bat and ball at the moment (more so bat). He's the best option, just stick with him and give him games, he'll get better for sure.

Wonder with Marsh if its actually tougher for him coming in at 4/500 - doesn't need to care for his wicket as much and is usually expected to score quickly.

If he gets dropped, something is very wrong. Gotta persist with guys like this with 10 years of quality cricket ahead of them.

NZ need 321 off 48ish overs.

Thats about 7 runs an over... On a road with the T20 ability of someone like McCullum, NZ could have a shot here!

Bill Manspeaker

321 is a lot of runs in the 4th innings of a test match

they'd need everything to go their way. once a few wickets fall they'll shut up shop

If I was a selector  id bat Nevill at 6 and Marsh at 7

If I had to go to Adelaide next week I'd probably retire too

First post in this thread btw, have been too lazy up to this point.

Went yesterday and it was pretty fun, literally the world's flattest track though - only good ball all day was when Starc bowled some tail-ender. Boult taking Hazlewood downtown with 6-4-4 on consecutive balls was hilarious tho. Didn't even get sunburned too :')

edit: Also good to see that elephants has gotten back into cricket after, for some reason, not posting at all in the last ashes thread. Interdasting.

Hilarious you point that out when you've done the same in previous Ashes threads (and EPL threads when Man u turned to shower).

Plus I enjoy cricket, but I don't fancy getting up in the middle of the night to follow it - plus it interferes with footy season.

But whatever haha, I'll cop it. Jukes taking pot-shots, some things never change smh smh smh

Firstly, apart from the time I had strep throat I've always been a heavy presence in Ashes threads. Haven't watched a game of soccer in half a decade (apart from going to glory with mates) because I don't play it anymore and therefore don't talk about it ever.

If 6pm is what you call getting up in the middle of the night, then sure...

PowerBug

Jukes, elephants. No more. Comment about the cricket, if you're not following the cricket, don't comment at all. Take it to PMs.
Consider this a friendly warning.
