Round 7 Progress (Day 3/4)
Okay so this is really really intense. Let's go through them from least important to most important.

WA Swans - 58
V Possums - 578
So this one is a long gone result. Nige and Pk you might be interested to know that Beau Webster sits on 237 points, Ashton Turner on 144, Chris Tremain on 100, all of whom were not named :P The Possums secure 1st spot with this win.

NSW Platypuses - 195
ACT Cockatoos - 772
So I warned of the effects of last weeks loss and here it is showing. The Platypuses after going 5-0 are now going to finish 5-2 and in 3rd spot having to play the elimination final next round (against 4th). The Cockatoos had a huge score from their late in Marcus Harris (170) and Scott Boland has 150. Veteran James Hopes is on 218 with a chance to add to that on the final day. For NSW nothing went right, no one yet to pass 100 and only Bollinger (56) and Moody (60) have passed 50 so far.

T Devils - 222
SA Wombats - 232
Now it gets interesting. So the Wombats need to win to have a chance at finals, combined with the next game having the correct result and margin. This game is a 4v2, the Devils having only Daniel Hughes (219) and Tom Cooper (3) named. Hughes is currently not out overnight, Tom Cooper is done for the game though so any chance of a Devils win hinges on Hughes. For the Wombats it's Chris Hartley who is fielding and MAY get another bat, and three Tassie Tigers (Silk, Bailey (c), McDermott) who have all been dismissed. George Bailey with -15 so -30 after being doubled is a killer. A catch or two from him in the final innings would provide a nice buffer. But the finals chances of the Wombats is up to the next game...

Q Koalas - 579
NT Kangaroos - 643
So this game has the most implications on the final spot. Koalas win, they are 4th. Kangaroos win, and the margin will determine whether the Koalas keep 4th spot (Assuming the Wombats also win) or drop to 5th. Players and their remaining impact:
Q Koalas:
Travis Head (c) - 35* currently batting
Will Bosisto - Should get another bat, may get a bowl too
Sam Heazlett - May bat later
Sam Whiteman - Probably won't bat but currently keeping
Peter George - 3 more wickets available
Joel Paris - Currently bowling 9 wickets available

NT Kangaroos:
Cam Bancroft - Will get another bat
Rob Quiney - Fielding points only
Matthew Wade (c) - Keeping points only (6 wickets left)
Glenn Maxwell - Same deal as above, may bowl though
Sean Abbott - Not many points available here I feel
Fawad Ahmed - Like the other 3 guys, fielding/bowling points only and 6 wickets to get.

We'll take it.  :P Might have to make a few tough changes for the finals!

nrich102

So we have the 2nd highest score but it looks like we're going to lose :(

3rd, ACT are killing it, might even pass the 1000 mark. Looks like you will be safe in finals though even with a loss. I need 4 quick wickets preferrably all with George Bailey involved and then Chris Hartley to go out and hit another 50.

Round 7 Results!
Here they are, the final results of the round robin season to determine who makes the finals of our first Shield season.

WA Swans 270 (4)
def by
V Possums 620 (6)

Very onesided in the end here, the Possums had a down week, Klinger did nothing whilst all their scores were on the bench again. Charlie Hemphrey was the only shining light for the Swans.

NSW Platypuses 429 (6)
def by
ACT Cockatoos 1005 (6)

Been two weeks to forget for Scrads and Spinking here. Gone from 1st down to 3rd and they've been thumped this time. ACT are flying, they have the highest overall score by more than 500 points to the next side, and everyone they play seems to go alright. James Hopes pushd his season average over 140 with a superb 252, only just outdoing Scott Boland who made 248. That's 500 points right there.

T Devils 251 (2)
def by
SA Wombats 252 (4)

Yep, I got there by one point. The Wombats were on 232 overnight, and the only points we got was a catch to skipper George Bailey, which is 20. Daniel Hughes was the only one to score points for the Devils, he actually got 248 of them, but needed 2 more to get the win.

Q Koalas 671 (6)
def by
NT Kangaroos 777 (6)

And the Kangaroos end their season on a high with a nice win over the finals bound Koalas. Cameron Bancroft (194), Glenn Maxwell (182) and Fawad Ahmed (142) the main destroyers. For QLD it was Joel Paris (149) and Travis Head (129) with the highest scores. In the end the tightness of this result means the Koalas will hang onto 4th spot and make the finals.

And there's the final ladder. For the teams in the bottom that's the end of all your team naming requirements for the season, now if we can just focus on getting the rules for next season sorted so that there's less work to do when we return. For those in the top 4, it's 1v2, 3v4 in the next round (Hom side gets 20 point headstart). The winner of the first match goes to the granny, the loser plays the winner in the prelim final (Also a 20 point head start to the higher ranked side). The team that wins the Major Semi (1v2) will get a 40 point headstart in the grand final.

So the fixture for the next round:
Major Semi Final: V Possums vs ACT Cockatoos
Minor Semi Final: NSW Platypuses vs Q Koalas

Also note how besides 1st and 2nd the teams are ranked in order of total points scored, and how 4th and 5th scored exactly the same for the season (Luck of the draw QLD, was all luck :P)

We don't do good at Queensland, we just do the minimum required :P

I'm all about bold moves.

Beau Webster will play and be captain.

I have some Semi Final scores to update :) I find it interesting how just from glancing at the scores the players from teams not in finals are having pretty good games (Bancroft, Marsh, Dunk to name a few).

Oh yeah, and Doolan and Bailey both of whom made tons >:( barbies why couldn't that have happened last round.

And Cameron White ::) If I made the finals I would've torn up this round :(

You're all hanging out for the scores right? ;)

V Possums 459
ACT Cockatoos 475

NSW Platypuses 556
Q Koalas 378

That's where we sit after Day 3 :) It includes the 20 point bonus that Possums and Platypuses get too.

To be fair i wouldn't have made many changes to the team the do have named. Only maybe a captain swap from Agar (who is not doing much).

Youll need Head to take one or two tomorrow, Peter George to rip through the Warriors too would help you.

Semi Final Results!

V Possums 625
defeated
ACT Cockatoos 495

Best:
VIC - Klinger 167, Mennie 150, Webster 162 [c], Kingston 184 [not named]
ACT - Triffit 167, Fekete 130, Gulbis 133 [not named], Rainbird 132 [not named], Boland 129 [not named]

NSW Platypuses 587

Q Koalas 388

Best:
NSW - Lehmann 194, Lynn 185, Bollinger 112
QLD - Heazlett 126, Steketee 123, Rohrer 187 [not named]

So the Possums win through to the grand final! And the next round will see ACT Cockatoos host the NSW Platypuses for a spot in the final. That round starts on the 5th March so a few days left for teams to be named. ACT will have a 20 point headstart, and in the final the Possums will start 40 points up on their opponents.
