Mat,  valid points.  If you keep doing what your doing you will get the same outcome.  If Freo want a different outcome and not top of Ladder and make 8, but to win the flag then they need to consider how to achieve it.  Same ol, same ol won't cut it.

Bennell is the guy that will bring that dynamic. The issue with Harley is the off field stuff, on the field he is a freak. He provides an X-factor that Freo don't have and desperately need, this is the man that beat the Cats on his own by having 27 possessions and kicking 6.3. They need someone that can replace Pav down the line and this is where they will struggle. If they had managed to somehow get Sunshine that would have been huge for them as it would have given them 3 taller goal scoring options in Pav, Mayne and Sunshine. They now need to find a way to manufacture another tall option and Fyfe isn't the answer. I could see them plonking Sandi down in the square before they take Fyfe out of the thick of the action.

Understand Mat, but it still doesn't change anything.

You've identified they've got no forwards. Ablett is not a big 190cm mid, he is quite stocky and hence, would play a completely different role as to how Fyfe could potentially play. Plus, GC always had Lynch & Dixon + Bennell, so there was no need for him to play large amounts of the game down there. GC can kick winning scores but don't produce enough of the ball, and their defence lets them down, so Ablett must play mid, whereas Freo is unreal in defence and through the middle, but not very good down forward. You cannot compare situations.
Why play Fyfe on ball with Mundy & Neale and have Barlow plugged down forward when you could have Fyfe down forward, play Barlow in the middle and lose nothing at all from your team? Barlow is average down forward, brilliant on ball, Fyfe is a master on ball and superb when competing down forward.

I would rather Superb + Brilliant over Master + Average

A tad too much uncertainty about his role for my liking. A no from me at this stage. Upgrade.

Fyfe will be in my side.

And he will The Brownlow again.

They ain't going to be playing their star as key position forward.

Barlow is finished btw. I'm expecting a rubbish year from the former rookie priced fantasy stud.

Don't discard him too quickly, from what I've heard his role will change to something a bit more fantasy friendly again

Role may change but the player I watched looked slow combined with his poor kicking and I have absolutely no faith in him. Would need to show up big in preseason for me to consider him.
Lucky he plays for the dockers as I couldn't see him getting guaranteed games at most other top 8 clubs imo. Would not have a hope in hell in getting a game at west coast/hawthorn
