I know it's only October but 1 weekend down with no footy and I'm already twiddling my thumbs!

After about round 12 Most of us probably decided that Fyfe is a lock in our teams for the next 5 years, especially after injuries forced his average down and will make his price more attractive next year, but I noticed a couple of weeks back on AFL 360 they had Fyfe on before the Brownlow and Robbo asked the question of weather he expected to play more forward in 2016 which he said he hoped to do. He acknowledged that they had a lot of Mids that could do his job but lacked scoring power. If Pav does retire like a lot expect him to then they will require him even more up forward. Add to that Harley Bennell being another gun mid about to enter their list and everything points to Fyfe playing mostly forward.

Does this put people off? Obviously a lot of water to go under the bridge and we will know more about his role for 2016 as the pre season unfolds but if that is going to be the case is it worth looking at him as an upgrade target?

When I look at the list of mids I want to start and there is big discounts on Ablett and Rocky who will be in every side, regular safe guns like Pendles and Priddis and then the young guns returning from injury like Libba, Crouch and Omeara who will all be very cheap it makes it hard to pick and choose.

What do people think about Fyfe and what are you expecting from him in 2016?

More fwd = More Goals

I wouldn't expect him to play as a permanent forward. Or even 50/50.

We're also targetting McCarthy, if we don't land him we're also looking at boys like Kersten.

I can't see a role change being large enough to severely impacting his scoring ability.

So he might do a Lids and Gray and score better in the forward line? Midfield isn't the be all and end all of scoring power.

True, but less of the ball. He gets most of his points from contested possessions. Still don't think he would drop off that bad but I'm being picky about paying premium prices with all the bargains around in the midfield.

Yeah I would definitely expect Freo to be active in securing a key forward but they need more than a kid to get there scores up to a level that can challenge for the flag and Fyfe is basically a ready made key forward. 50/50 mid/fwd is my concern because I think that would push his average down to 115ish

Lids best year was still as a pure mid in 2012. Only year he's ever played pure mid. Different players though, Fyfe scores because he's a contested beast, Deledio is better at turning 20 possessions into a 100+ game because of good ball use

Think of all those contested marks ;)

Certainly would be a few. My main point is that I'm trying to squeeze 10 mids I want into 5 so being picky about what may drop fyfes average off enough to have him as an upgrade target rather than a starter.

Early days I've forecast my midfield to be:

Ablett- No explanation needed.
Rocky- Too cheap to not have
Pendles- had his worst year I can remember watching for probably 5 years and still averaged 116
Libba - cheap
Crouch - cheap and will get bulk mid time with danger gone.

Then there's other guys like Selwood who could jump back to 120+ with Danger and Scott Selwood there to help him, Sloane  etc who will all be cheaper than they should be because of injury.
Fyfe will be cheaper than he was heading for too but probably has more of a question mark over what he will do in 2016

Yep definitely some good bang for buck. No doubt the ones I go with will flop though  ::)

Ablett still crushes when forward, so I expect Fyfe will too

Ablett is the little master though and even if he played ruck would somehow get 30 hitouts to advantage ;)

That is what I'll be doing! Fyfe is a gun and I hope people don't start him so I can get off to a flyer with 300 points each week coming from Fyfe with the C 8)

Fyfe, as a forward, with the C over Gazz?
