I don't wanna sound like a whiny dog and sore loser, which is exactly what it's gonna come across as but... the fact that Yorp didn't even name his team correctly, only has 5 (should be 6) playing and is still probs gonna beat us is ridiculous.
That's what emergencies are for? I checked the teams this morning and Hemphrey was in their 14 named...

When I said ridiculous, I mean ridiculously bad luck for us. What were the odds of your batsmen all scoring really well and making up for the lack of a 6th player? Not to mention the national squad being recalled and you having a guy like Starc available.

Your team did well and as PB pointed out, did in fact surprise (to a level I don't think even he expected), I'm not taking that or the win away from you. More just pointing out our bad luck haha.

Ah okay yeah I can definitely see that we got awfully lucky. Like all teams though, a little luck goes a long way.  ;)

We were unlucky that Patto got injured though, gives us little stability for the future rounds. You again were lucky to have us R1.

I did have WA finishing 2nd in the predictions I posted this morning ;) Very big score first up though, luckily you only need to be top 2 to progress.

Also on the naming team correctly bit, pk did stuff up your team as well. First round though so I'll fix up the mistakes you guys make.

As for 5 vs 6 and still losing, that's unlucky, but your captain might score 250 (it's possible) and swing the match back your way.

I've got a prac tonight but I hope to have the Rd 1 results out before I go.

Also Rd 2 starts tomorrow, BP has named his team already, also note that some teams play twice and some might not play at all, make sure you take a look at the CA fixtures thread which has all of that for you :)

ROUND 1 RESULTS:

Group 1

NT   TAS
604   278

Despite the Kangaroos playing what felt like one short (Maxwell 0), they got the job done thanks to a huge 289 from Cameron Bancroft.

NSW   ACT
295   639

The Cockatoos had no troubles brushing past the Platypuses in Round 1. Steven Smith went big with 248 before being doubled to 496. NSW didn't really get going, their captain (Agar 10) having a quiet one.

Group 2

WA   VIC
862   148

Wowee WA! This score came from 5 players, and may as well have come from 4 as Ludeman only scored 13. Nic Maddinson, Ben Dunk (C) both scoring centuries and combining for over 500 points, Mitchell Starc takes 6 wickets and scores another 200. Mitch Marsh held his own with some quick runs and a 15 point Econ bonus.

QLD   SA
514   326

The one match that had some meaning heading into the last match. QLD did the job here but only thanks to Travis Head, who finished with 359 points. The rest of the team was actually quite poor, skipper Joe Burns scored -20, and Sam Whiteman could only manage 11. In reply SA got a nice contribution from Shaun Marsh and John Hastings, the others did not do much though and Nathan Lyon scored 0.

Maddinson out for 12 and Ludeman hasn't gotten a catch yet  :-[ Need a big bowl from Starcy and Head to have an awful one. The two captains may go head to head!

A win all but secures a Semi spot.

Twice in a row the QLD skipper has a first baller :o

Might have to captain a bowler next round guys, wont cop the -20 that way
