Get flowered, stop drafting all our SA and WA players then...something like the last 5 years, over 60% of draftees have come from SA/WA..no talent in Vic obviously...  ::)

I think you'll find that you could not be more wrong. The Calder Cannons alone almost match the entire state of SA.

You dont mean the Calder Cannons footy factory in Geelong do you?! #BrianTaylor

2014

TAC CUP: 45 senior/14 rookie
WAFL: 9/5
SANFL: 9/8
VFL: 5 rookies

I just read the stat in an article, never looked into properly, just making a point about a silly post...think the numbers mightve been from around the Natanui draft either side of that one...

Adelaide should be developing their own talent in Adelaide, then they wouldn't have this issue.

That is the stupidest thing I've ever read.

The Naitanui draft was 2008. Around then the numbers were:

2007/08/09

TAC & VFL: 42/43/39
WAFL: 18/16/15
SANFL: 4/13/9

Looks like Vic produces plenty of talent.

What if we analyse top 10 talent.

Purely out of interest, Victoria probably produce the most talent because they have most access to facilities/clubs etc but its still interesting.

Combined SA/WA player top 10 (national draft only)
2007 - 4/10
2008 - 6/10
2009 - 3/10
2010 - 6/10
2011 - 2/10
2012 - 2/10
2013 - 2/10
2014 - 1/10

WA has almost been breaking even with Vic in terms of top 10 talent lately but other than Wingard and perhaps Boak, SA hasn't produced a gun top 10 pick since Ryan Griffen. Their first player taken was #35 last year. Bit difficult for the Crows to target home grown talent when there isn't any.

This is a little deceptive. JOM, Hulk, Martin and Mitchell would have all been top 10 selections too.

Would be interesting to see what the ratio is a few years after each draft and to see which players have reached a consistent level or been dumped...

WA punches far above is weight when it comes to football.

Would be interesting to see how that stacks up against a SA team.
