Carlisle announced today, through his manager, he was seeking a trade from Essendon?

Where do we think he'll end up and what's the going rate for an AA defender these days? Thinking clubs will require a mid-first round pick at least to get the deal done.

if he wants to go to Carlton we could get screwed as he can just go into the PSD? :(

An early draft pick that has no say in the matter  :P

He's an inconsistent and injury prone sook. You're better off without him.

iZander

Well its not like we lack key position defenders, although i do like hooker up forward :P

Carlisle has promised he will not leave the Bombers empty-handed by walking to Carlton, which holds the first choice in the preseason draft.

Probably the best result for the club if Carlisle leaves. If we can get another pick around the 10-15 mark (honestly doubt we'll get any higher than that) then it should let us take a KPP like Wiedeman along with a good midfielder out of the draft. Should set us up for a good run in a few years. Tayte Pears and Ariel Steinberg are decent enough to fill holes down back behind Hurley and Hooker.

Agree

So what would you guys want for Carlisle?

A lot of St. K fans reckon a 2nd round pick and someone like Gilbert (29 years old!) or Tom Lee (didn't play a seniors match all last year) would be adequate compensation. Essendon deserves far more than what really amounts to two VFL players in return for a player they reckon they can pay $700k per year. If they aren't willing to offer more than that, I honestly think we might as well let him go to the draft. Either way, we get nothing of real value to the club.

2016 first round pick is probably what the Saints will offer. I think St. K are a chance to finish anywhere between 14th and 10th next year which would give us between 4 and 8. Because there's a degree of risk involved in that, I don't think we should be including anything else with Carlisle for that trade.

What I'd most like is their first round pick for this year, and I'd be happy to throw in a second rounder to help them snare Freeman. Saints don't seem likely to go for this one though.

I guess the second option is most likely then?

Pick 5, no1 like him comes on the market at his age.

Pkbaldy

Well won't be pick 5. I'll tell you that now.

Not at any stage have I seen someone mention Gilbert or Lee as a trade.

The going trade at the moment seems to be; 2nd Rounder + Seb Ross (I've got my own thoughts as it could be Nathan Wright in his place) for Jake Carlisle.

Other option I see is 1st Rounder (2016) + 4th Rounder (2016) for Carlisle + 3rd Rounder (2015/2016)

iZander

I reckon we will get pick 5 ;) and i think thats what he is worth. Im probably bias though :P Might be a second rounder added to him, but i dont see us wanting next years draft picks since we are coming off two years with no draft picks. Think we need this years drafts :P
