Really hope we get Parish but I have a strong feeling that he'll be heading north....

Surely not? They need help in the defense, I feel that Francis is pretty much a lock for GC. But if you guys miss out on Parish, Francis will be awesome off the back line for you guys. He's style and gameplay like Goddard when he was used as a defender at St Kilda.

Then for your 2nd rounder you can look at Gresham or Ryan Clarke as an outside player if you end up with Francis.

Well won't be pick 5. I'll tell you that now.

Not at any stage have I seen someone mention Gilbert or Lee as a trade.

The going trade at the moment seems to be; 2nd Rounder + Seb Ross (I've got my own thoughts as it could be Nathan Wright in his place) for Jake Carlisle.

Other option I see is 1st Rounder (2016) + 4th Rounder (2016) for Carlisle + 3rd Rounder (2015/2016)
Good, stay off facebook then. You see all sorts of lowball offers.

2nd Rounder + Seb Ross or Nathan Wright is a bullshower offer. Sorry, but neither of them are good enough to be anything more than fringe best 22 at Essendon and a 2nd round pick this year is probably equivalent to a 3rd rounder in last years draft. Port gave us a first rounder and a second rounder for Ryder, so why would we take that? There's no way Essendon would or should agree to that offer. Horrible deal for us.

A straight swap for Carlisle and a 1st rounder in 2016 is more than fair. I don't see why we need to sweeten the deal.

i don't want to see him get pushed out of the team for the young 1st rounders we are going to pick up.
The same thing is going to happen to him at Essendon so why do you think we want him for such a high price?

I was assuming you'd been on BigFooty... haha

Both are project players? So they were always going to take longer to make big impacts. Seb Ross will better than Gleeson, JMerrett, Kavanagh and going off this years effort Zaha.

Bains and Dodoro will work out some form of trade. But don't be disheartened if it is Seb Ross. He will be highly serviceable for you guys.
I'll be disheartened if it is Seb Ross because he's not what we want and he's not what Carlisle is worth. If this was a trade involving Tayte Pears or somebody, Seb Ross would be a great pick up in return. But Carlisle is easily one of our best players and is arguably one of the best defenders in the league. He'll go to St. Kilda and immediately make an impact. We want to be adequately compensated for losing a very important player.

Dodoro has said as soon as Carlisle announced he wanted out that we'd be seeking a star player or a first round pick as compensation. That's not a 2nd round pick and Seb Ross and I can't imagine us going back on a position which we've made extremely clear. If you want to get this deal done, you're going to have to give up one of your available first round picks.

Well if it is a 1st rounder it'll be the 2016 one.

But you can't say that he is one of the best defenders in the league. There's only 3 defenders in the league that would be worth Pick 5 or better ( Rance, D.Talia and Hurley). And can't really be one of your best players... He hasn't polled in the top 10 of your BnF for the past 2 years... If it were Hurley wanting out i'd be throwing Pick 5 and Seb Ross for him. I know Carlisle has plenty of potential... But Saints also have to be weary of him.

no mention of hooker?
AA last year plus lead the league in intercept marks for like 2 years straight was leading this year before being moved forward

not saying his pick 5 worth but just felt he deserved a mention with the likes of those 3

i wouldn't mind 2nd rounder + Lonie

He'd cost 3 first rounders ;) Man is a beast. I got him in BXV, I wouldn't trade him for anything haha.

All the Saints supporters suddenly becoming list managers over at BigFooty is hilarious to read. They've almost convinced each other that the Ross + 23 deal is happening. Now it's starting here too  ::)

I'd be happy with Parish, Weideman, Curnow for our first rounds. 2nd rounder's Ben Mckay, Greisham, Hibbo. Gash with our 3rd or 4th round.

Think he is not in our range. Too early for our early 20's picks, and will be gone by our 40 pick.

Hellopplz

If Parish is there at our first pick, we better snare him (How did we not grab Laverde with our first pick last year, lucky he stayed for our next one). Adds some more midfield class in this draft. Don't mind Curnow and stuff, but probably go a tall forward with our next pick as we'd need one.

Really depends what we get out of this Carlisle deal to see how things work. I'd hope for that first round pick this year but guess if we get their one next year it's still a win compared to a second round this year + Seb Ross.

I think pick 4 is whoever GC don't take out of Francis and Parish without a doubt. We'd love a mid who's good at everything in Parish, but if he's taken then Francis will be too good to pass up on. Whether we end up with 5, 8, 9, 11, 13 or whatever for Carlisle, I don't mind if we take a punt on a forward in Curnow or Weideman. If neither are available, Collins seems like a solid defender.

One of a few decent midfielders (if we don't get Parish) should also still be around to about 9-13 if that's what we get. Tucker, Mathieson and Oliver come to mind, so even if we get Adelaide's 13 instead of 5, we should still get someone decent without giving up pick 23. Who knows, 23 might just land us a gem!

RE: Laverde, from memory EFC knew that Carlton (who had the pick in between Langford and Laverde) were more keen on Langford, and since we wanted both we took the gamble on Langford hoping/expecting Laverde to still be available a pick later. I think they rated Laverde at 5 and Langford 7, so a steal in the recruiting department's eyes it was.
