Hahahahahaha should've never made him captain? 2 premierships say otherwise!

And a bit rich coming from an Eagles supporter!

No one in our teams goes around trying to kill people and snap there necks into goal posts.

But hey, sounds like a good representation for hawthorn if you are defending it....

Didn't Murray Newman get done for grievous assault or something?

Explains why he isnt captaining our side....

Also the fact he did a crime and did the time.

Will see if hodge does any time. Doubt it.

AFL are soft, shouldn't allow clubs to deal with such things, should be a blanket ban for anyone caught drink driving set by the League, rather than by the clubs to protect their important players at important times.

What's the chance Hodge and Jaensch face completely different penalties because of the fact that one is ready to play finals and the other is not.

Gigantor

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Greatest, Facebook page, ever!!!

You never specified your captain, I was just pointing out the flaw in your argument

Of course he won't get time, it was a low level drink driving offence, I dont even think he lost his license.

I think this would actually be a good stance.

Jaensch blew double what hodge did though- aka, like 7x more over the limit than hodge was

Grazz

Jaensch was done at 0.137 not quite 3x the legal limit but yeh pretty much double Hodgey at 0.068, Hodge was fined $450 and ten demerit points plus the $5k fine from the club. Jaensch is disqualified for 6 months had his car impounded for a month, no fine as yet as he needs to face court sometime soon I imagine, no doubt there will be a fine from the Crows coming his way also or there should be.

I meant hodge was 0.018 over and jaensch was 0.087 over, so jaensch was 5x over what hodge was :P

Yep was aware of what you meant Zip just thought id post the actual readings and penalties as points of reference for any discussion here.

fanTCfool

Maybe a system could be rolled out that has a number of weeks depending on how far over the limit a player is.
Realistically though, such a thing should not be needed, no one should be drink driving

There is no flaw....

No one is asking to lock hodge up. But he should be suspended. Shouldnt even be touching a drop of alcohol this time of the season....

Mate, in response to someone saying it's
'And a bit rich coming from an Eagles supporter!'
You said

'No one in our teams goes around trying to kill people and snap there necks into goal posts. '

So I was pointing out it was a bad comparison, considering you have someone on your team who got done for beating the shower out of someone. That was the flaw in your response.

The time of season shouldn't really matter. Yeah, Hodge is probably only getting off because it's finals, but nearly any premiership challenging team would try to push this under the carpet at this time of year. That's why I also think there should be a league mandated suspension for drink driving.

So basically your argument is stating that someone from Eagles IS running around on the field trying to snap people's necks into goal posts? Hmm... Okay mate....

So really there is no flaw as no one from our team has done that.

Yeah, they drink during the year with 8 days breaks in between games they are allowed. But with 1 week to finals, as the captain of your club you shouldn't be touching a drink... It's not that hard. Let alone driving after what he says was 3 beers but was likely more. Step down hodge, he's bluffed the football world long enough... Get a real role model to take leadership.

My point was more that you've got a guy beating the crap out of people outside of the game as opposed to one playing a contact sport physically.

Oh yeah, definitely drinking before finals shouldn't be on, because your team wants to win finals. At the same time, you're not going to suspend one of the best players at your club because of it, because , you want to win finals. Kind of a funny catch 22.

Anyway, I actually don't care about this whole situation at all, like the dude blew slightly over the limit, the repercussions were minimal, probably less than what they should have been, whatever.
