Would Port Adelaide trade him? I think they should whilst he still has currency.

Ryder showers all over him as a ruck and Lobbe as a forward doesn't work.

If Port Adelaide get Dixon from the Suns as expected Lobbe will be spending a lot of time in the SANFL in 2016.

I'm actually not sure. Perhaps for the short term, but he's not the most mobile bloke and with the reduction of rotations i'm not sure they can afford to have a lumbering-type ruckman. AFL teams will essentially be shopping around for a massive midfielder who can ruck. Think Blicavs/NicNat/Stef Martin etc.

Latest trade news regarding Lobbe, sourced from the AFL Website,

QuotePower ruckman Matthew Lobbe is going nowhere during this Trade Period, according to Port Adelaide's general manager of footy Chris Davies.

Speaking on Adelaide radio station 5AA today, Davies shut down trade talk about the big man.

"Matthew is a really important member of our team, of our club, from that perspective we haven't been entertaining any discussions on his future here," Davies said.

"You can't just value what you perceive a players worth by what you see on game day. Matthew is such a bigger part of the club, we've been really comfortable with what he's delivered on game day, let alone everything else he brings to our joint.

"We just shut down any conversations on that now."

I dont consider him proven. What's he had, one decent season and couldn't back it up?
Ahem... 1 and a half decent seasons  :P

I think he could easily back it up. But as a Port supporter I know, that he cannot as long as Ryder is with us...

The two are fantasy kryptonite to one another. Ryder will never score well with Lobbe in the starting line-up, and vice versa. It's a tough situation because we have two of the league's premier ruck men, however having both of them does more damage then good.

Fantasy-wise, I would stay away from both Lobbe & Ryder unless one, god forbid, suffers a LTI. Hinkley will always name both because we pay them so much, however from what I saw this season... the combination just doesn't work (it's basic management, you should never have two people doing one man's job - they just get into each others' way).

Furthermore, Port will never trade Lobbe unless the offer is too good to refuse, i.e. incredibly lopsided (he's contracted until 2019, so we have all the leverage)

He is listed on port site as 2m and 98 kilos don't think he is quite big enough to worry any of the big boys so I don't think he has the currency to to get big offers for him think you might be stuck with him  :P

Toga

Teams like Richmond and the Bulldogs will come knocking again next year.

He's the Vice-captain so and Port don't want to trade him so they would be happy to be stuck with him

(he also doesn't want to leave - but we will see if that changes as Ryder is the preferred ruck choice)

I would say the worst case scenario for Lobbe is that he has to wait a few years for Ryder to decline. Hinkley wants as many players competing for each position as possible so we are happy with it (and the back-ended contracts free up the money for us to do so  :P )

I think either Richmond or the Bulldogs will make a decent offer if they come after him (they will have to - contracted until 2019), however I think the Bulldogs would be the better team to trade with (seeing as they offered pick 11 to us in the transfer period for Lobes)

Speculator

Ryder has ruined any prospect of considering this bloke.

Still not a keeper. Might average 90s which is just awkward

Will dominant. I'm sorry but when he is sole ruck he is one of the best 3-5 rucks in the comp. This may be beneficial for the Power because he will likely share ruck duties with Charlie Dixon in an 80-85%/15-20% split. So he also receives an adequate amount of time to recharge (Lobbe is more of a tall midfielder who can ruck than a pure ruck man, he gets the disposals when he isn't being interfered with and he gets the tackles).

I would say a guaranteed +80ppg average with the potential to go past the 90ppg barrier (remember before Ryder came he was considered elite - he also played a huge part in our 2013 & 2014 seasons & finals campaigns - Ryder coming in was the only cause of his shower 2015 season)

I currently have Tippett at R2, but expect him to average much the same as Lobbe now, who is $100k cheaper. They also share the same Bye, Round 14. It's really hard not to be keen on a bloke who averaged 100 without Ryder.
