I really don't think he meant to bite him, everyone obviously has him guilty even tho the tribunal were not sure what to do and only gave him 2 weeks.

When asked if he bit Suban.

"Absolutely not… my mouth was wedged on his forearm," Masten said. "There was no intention to bite. I must have closed it by reaction."

Masten has never been reported and his team mates say this is extremely out of character.

I'm giving him the benefit of doubt.

Ziplock makes some good points, biting is so uncommon that we see it as a "dog act", but punches are thrown every week without batting an eyelid.  Barry Hall knocking out Staker and Conca for king hitting that GWS player last year are 100 times worse and should've been dealt with as assault.

Stand by my thoughs that he was in a position where he had no other way to get Masten off himself and as I said, we don't really have a whole lot of control over our fight or flight responses when adrenalin kicks in, our body reacts to prtoect ourselves in those circumstances.  As for being charged with assault, I've never heard this and only assume it was in his younger days and prob got involved in a stupid incident (googling it and still can't find any evidence so a link would be good). This doesn't change the fact that he hasn't done anything dirty on the footy field which was my point.

+ 1 .. was thinking the same thing when everyone was saying biting is not okay you should just smack the crap out of them instead. Not often people die from bites.

I agree there are those other incidents spoken of by yourself and others that are very very low indeed, Hall on Staker disgusting, to a lesser extent Lockett on Caven springs to mind. Theres no question we can get a little precious regarding biting when these other events should be close or in the same basket.
I think we have debated the incident to it's death here, people will remain divided over it as it is a polarising issue so understandably there is conflict when discussing it. Also it was a WA derby that already is a emotional contest for those that support these teams.
I see no benefit going on with it further for the reasons above, we've done it to death and I think we should agree to leave it where it is before any real harm comes from it.

Defintely, I was getting sick of talking about it not unlike the whole Goodes scenario.  To think, the derby was coming into business as always behaviour until this, some fires have been lit and could be back to the glory days of the demolition derby!  #shotsfired #shotforrabies

ha, ha jv!
I do think your Coaster's bias is clouding your view of the situation a little.  ;)

again, i'm no fan of Suban but for WCE fans trying to claim that Masten was the victim here ...  ::)   :P   :-X    ;)

Yeah you're probabably right, like to think my view is without bias, but can't know for sure.  I don't think Masten was the victim, but I don't think suban was innocent either.  Let's just move onto another win for West Coast and loss for Freo!  ;D I'm actually fairly certain the Roo's will bury Freo this weekend, no bias with this one.  ;D

Did i hear right that WC brought a dentist in to the tribunal to say that Suban's arm around masten's mouth forced his jaw open and then to close and bite down??

Dentist was presented. But didnt put forward the arguement you have stated. He basically said if subans forearms were to be pushed on mastens mouth it could cause an involuntary re flux action.
