No worries, thanks for the insight mate!

Ringo

For sure - always goes hard at it which gets him into trouble some time.  Did not look good at all initially.

Ringo

Thought I would revise this again and do not relish the match committee's job.

FB: Paparone, Merrett, Andrews
HB: Lester, Clarke, Harwood
C: Rich, Robinson, Hanley
HF:Zorko, Walker, Bell
FF: Green, Schache , Christensen
Foll: Martin, Rockliff, Beams
IC: Bastinac, Mayes, McStay, Taylor

If Greenie does not get up for Rd 1 Taylor comes on and then Close,Freeman or Jansen to bench.

Lester, Cutler, Harwood and McGrath vying for 2 positions.

Close, Freeman and Schache vying for the fill forward. Schache has not put a foot wrong in the intraclub and showed extreme accuracy when kicking for goal. Would not look out of place in Rd 1 if he keeps it up in NAB cup.

Hard to see any others of our draftees shaping up for Rd 1 although all have looked good. Clayton, Dawson and Nick Robertson will also put pressure on especially with our horror draw to start the season.

I'd have Freeman in over Lester. I think 3 talls in the forward line would look nice.

GoLions

I don't think we should be putting too much pressure on Schache early on, would probably still have Freeman in over one of Schache/Walker

Also maybe Claye Beams (if fit) over Lester? Not sure if I like Lester off half back. I feel like I'm forgetting someone though...

TBH GL I would have agreed with you before the 2 trial matches.  His size really surprised me for 18 and he imo would have leaped over both close and Freeman based on the intraclub.  NAB cup may change opinion though.
The 2 HB positions will be interesting as some pundits have Lester and Mayes running of HB.  Beams was the other one I was trying to think of but 5 into 2 definitely will not go.

Just a fantasy football question.

Jarrad Jansen has been a popular pick and his price is fantastic.

My concern is that when I look at Brisbane's list... I don't see him getting a game unless there is another injury curse. I see Keays, Bastinac, Robinson, Bell, Beams, Christensen, Rich, Hanley, Zorko, Taylor and Rockliff all ahead of him - and a lot of these players will be squeezed into the forward line.

Also, I see him on par with Mathieson and Keays in regards to selections (all three have the same amount of experience).

I see Robertson and Claye Beams struggling to get midfield time, and these two actually have AFL experience

Basically, am I correct in assuming that Jansen is a wait-and-see pick rather than a rookie starter?

nrich102

Jansen is such a good price in AF. Unfortunately I can't see him playing round 1 :( I think he's fighting for one spot with about 5 others, and he's way down the list imo.

Ringo

You have summed up well power.  Do not think he will be a starter in Rd 1 unless Green is not over his fractured foot and then would be only for short period of time.  Will be fighting with Keays, Mattho, Dawson and Clayton for that position if it occurs.

Mattho and Jansen have been the best performed in the intra-club trials.

Will imo be a wait and see,

Another one from afl.com.au

B: Dan McStay, Daniel Merrett, Ryan Harwood
HB: Sam Mayes, Harris Andrews, Tom Cutler
C: Pearce Hanley, Daniel Rich, Marco Paparone
HF: Tom Bell, Josh Schache, Allen Christensen
F: Josh Green, Josh Walker, Dayne Zorko
FOLL: Stefan Martin, Tom Rockliff, Dayne Beams
INT: Ryan Bastinac, Mitch Robinson, Lewis Taylor, Ryan Lester

With the off-season additions of Tom Bell, Ryan Bastinac and Josh Walker, along with the drafting of tall forward Josh Schache, the Lions have some genuine depth for the first time in a few years. Jono Freeman is a touch unlucky to miss out in the forward line, but Walker's bigger frame and ability to pinch-hit in the ruck gives him the nod. With Ryan Harwood and Tom Cutler in the back half, the Lions now have plenty of speed to break the lines, while Sam Mayes is one of their best ball users and can set up attack from the defensive 50. Marco Paparone edges Rohan Bewick for a wing spot, while draftees Rhys Mathieson and Ben Keays will also push for versatile Ryan Lester's position. - Michael Whiting

Looks solid to me. I'd pick Freeman over Schache tbh, but can't see anything too controversial.

Ringo

Can not argue too much with it. -

Schache probably the only contentious one with both Close and freeman putting pressure on.
Keays,Matthieson, Gardiner and Bewick will keep the pressure on.
Claye Beams and justin Clarke also to return

T Dog

If Rocky doesn't come up..and I do mean if...who is the main man?

Ringo

Think you will see Basti, Robbo and Bell taking on that role.  Rich and Hanley will remain outside.

Hanley giving Schache and Cutler a good talk up. Expecting both to play in Perth. My round 1 selection of the team is

Andrews - Merrett - Paparone
Cutler - McStay - Gardiner
Hanley - Rich - Lester
Bell - Schache - Christensen
Taylor - Walker - Green
Martin - Rockliff - Robinson

Bastinac - Keays - Robertson - Mayes

Bewick - Freeman - Dawson

Went with Gardner as leppa loves a tall back line and gives the opportunity to push Mcstay forward and Keays for a debut over Bewick
