Bad start for NY after what was looking very promising early on

At 1/2 time Cloke and Tippett were both close to 50SC and on track for good scores, but the KPP curse hit in the 2nd half and they did bugger all, barely scoring :(

Purple 77

Shall update scores later tonight... Been a bit busy.

Will get to cheer on petrie, Steven and Geary in person, and boo montagna though!

Purple 77

Alrighty. Team submission stuff:

Just the two OOP players, both on purpose.

I have agreed with the teams not playing finals that named a senior best XV. Tokyo didn't name one (which is fine), so I named one based on the amount of times you selected a player and on form. Tokyo's best XV (3 emergencies at end) is:

Garrick Ibbotson
Shaun Burgoyne
Jake Carlisle
Ricky Henderson
Anthony Miles
Kieran Jack
Luke Parker
Andrew Carrazzo
Scott Lycett
Luke Dahlhaus
Jamie Cripps
Steven Motlop
Nick Suban
Andrew Phillips
Harry Cunningham

Martin Gleeson
Jackson Merrett
Liam Dawson

After the first 3 AFL games:

Dublin & Mexico City are toughing out another epic, with no real leader established yet... maybe Dublin at this stage.

PNL have started strong, whereas Christchurch have crumbled somewhat! A lot of catching up to do here for the Saints.

This game hasn't lit many fires yet, but Tom Mitchell & David Armitage have produced inspired efforts only to be let down by their teammates. No one more than Joe Daniher. Still fairly even at this stage.

Berlin has been blessed with an inspired performance by Drew Petrie (where I watched him LIVE!), and has take the early advantage.

Don't think any game is over yet!

agreed NDS Thompson cost me big and Goldy was good but down on form.,

Purple 77

I was gonna mention it in my preview, but forgot.

Berlin has won 10 games this year... 9 of which came from the bottom 9  :-X the other was against Mexico City.

Take that however you like I suppose  :-X

Purple 77

And just a fun fact about Berlin...

In my only other elimination final (2013 v Cape Town), I debuted Darren Minchington (also his AFL debut) as my F4. I was THIS close to naming him ahead of Atkins at U2, which would have been his SECOND WXV's match lol.

This is also Atkins debut for me... also in an elimination final! It's about time, seeing as he has been on my list for 3 years and has only played 4 AFL games in this time (all this year).

ftr, his 50 I am reasonably happy with. I'm simply convinced Dixon is going to stink it up and get a 30, so I'm glad Atkins did better than that

Funny how PNL's Rioli and Hodge combined for 10 goals but just 202 SC points  :P

Cyril did literally nothing other than kick those 6 goals, half of which came in junk time. Lucky to have scored more than 75.

I was at the game, Hodge helped break in front start of the game. Half of Rioli's goals came in junk, but he did some nice taps and whatnot during the game without getting disposals haha. Thoguth Rioli would get like 80-90 and Hodgey more like 120. So evens out :P.

Still pretty consistent from our guys, can Christchurch have a big Sunday to take it or will PNL FINALLY win their first final?!?!?!

Purple 77

After Saturdays games

Dublin have established the advantage with players continuing the standard but more because Simpson, Bartel, Lewis and Ebert combining for just 299 points... the Suns needed more. They are still a chance, but it is unlikely. If the rumours come true and TMac is a late withdrawal, then the Suns would come close to a victory with Josh Bruce's 54 coming on to replace him, but they need players to stand up now otherwise they'll play again next week.

It'd be a helluva game right now if it was Dublin v PNL. The Reindeers are roaring (can Reindeers roar?), having had 9 players play and with the current HGA set at 90! Bloomin 90! No player has gone nuts, but EVERY play has a good game, and at this stage it looks like the Reindeers will overcome the Saints, who aren't playing that badly really. The Saints are still a chance though, but captain Sandi would have to repeat his 2012 finals heroics and produce a 150+ I reckon. Then they still have guys like Picken, Boyd and Shuey that can score high, so there is still an outside chance.

This is a bloody close game! The Spetsnaz are back playing their good football, and if it weren't for the subdued Daniher scoring just 32 then I reckon they would be a guaranteed win. BUT, this Islanders outfit have been playing inspiring footy for 7 weeks now, and as such have that pesky HGA which looks like might come in handy. If you factor it in (currently 54), the Islanders are 66 points behind, same amount of players played but the Spetsnaz have had their CCs play and captain Bont is still to come. I sure hope for the Islanders sake that Bernie Vince doesn't destroy him again in the tag like earlier in the year. This game might have even come down to the ruck battle, where Monfries' 10cm height advantage proved telling, on his way to a reduced century.

Sunday was always going to be the day when this result was going to be decided, with Berlin "boasting" 6 Demons in play that usually dictate whether the Brewers will go huge or not. As it stands, the Brewers have the advantage (if you factor in HGA of 50), New York are in front by 147 points with two extra played and both CCs played. It has been a pretty ordinary game so far with just the two centurions, but as I said the quality of the players is today so the game is still in dispute. Hopefully, the early advantage will get me over the line, but I'll be nervous all day.
