Puts an enormous amount of pressure on young players if they use a lot of picks for them.

Im glade they brought in a rule to help Victorian clubs out though. They are the ones that really need the help

Incorrect. This rule was brought in to help clubs with youth academies as the previous new rule was very bad for those clubs. If Sydney wanted all their youth academy players, they would have to fork out either all their picks or perhaps miss out. This way, they will be able to trade players for picks for the next year, so they have more picks to use on their youth academy players as the draft picks now equate to a certain amount of points.

Has it's pros and cons but im not a fan if im honest, think it assists some to much and others not enough.
Does little to create a fair comp across the country. Happy to be convinced otherwise but at the minute not a fan.

I am not a fan either Grazz :s

I know the old system wasn't perfect but surely the AFL could come up with something that sorted Sydney's academy and the Queensland academy for all the other clubs to be happy with them.

I still don't get Sydney's trade restrictions, can't help but wonder if it's a punishment for not playing ball and letting Buddy got to GWS like how the media have reported recently ie the AFL actively draft tampering to see this happen. Ive got little faith or trust in them now, I bet there's been more going on than just these things reported recently. Their a sly bunch.

I'm not fussed either way, I like they made an effort at least.

And the sydney trade restrictions are complete bs lol. The AFL should be ashamed of themselves.

All this will do is if scouts consider the following draft to be not as deep like this year, then clubs will spend their picks the year before

I meant the previous new rule helped out Victorian teams by making non-victorian clubs use all their picks for one player who they have put all the time and effort in to

The real disadvantage I see in it is that clubs will penalise themselves should a great draft crop emerge in the year they have given up first draft pick up.

Clubs will be keeping an eye on the potential of future draft crops though so should be able to tell if they are giving up picks to a particularly strong draft. Shouldn't catch clubs out really.

Plus if teams are giving up a future first round draft pick then they're surely getting an elite player in return anyway.

Then that's the responsibility of the recruiting/scouting staff to not pick up a heap of picks in that particular draft ;)
