Can Goldy break the $800k barrier this year? Would you consider starting with him next year if he does?

Goldstein's price next year will be based on his average for the whole year, not just where he finishes :)

... and no, wouldn't pay $800k for him

At this rate he'll start next year as the most expensive player. Do we fork out 700k+ for him? That will be a tough one!

Considering GAJ and maybe Fyfe won't be, I reckon I would.

Nope. If Sandi is going around next year you get him 2 weeks after he plays Freo. He has a history of scoring poorly when he has come up against the big guy at west and his price will plummet.

All you have to do is look at Goldy's history (Or many ruckmen FTR) to know you shouldn't start them after a massive season at a massive price.

I've seen Jacobs, Mumford, Sandi AND Goldy have a big season and plummet the next season.

That is the thing as well. Cox and Sandi back in the day were the only two to buck the trend, it looks like Goldy has hit that level. I think I would rather grab Leuenberger if he ends up at a new team and maybe another under priced premium or mid price guy. I can then wait for Goldy to drop and jump on. Especially if they play Freo around round 4 or so.

Exactly why people didnt start him this year. Your premise is wrong but I wont start him as his price will be huge. No ruck has ever gone this big before

Goosey

I started with Goldy and Belly, probably my best pick and worst pick combined!

He is such a beast, when I saw North play the Crows I saw just how big and mobile he is.

I started GAJ and Rocky this year, so if I be a bit more selective in the mids next year, I reckon I can fit him in from the start.

johnoP

ill be starting with maybe mummy/blitz/jacobs and one cheapo ruck/fwd who will make way for goldy as soon as he goes south 700K

I probably wouldn't fork out the cash, a Jacobs/NicNat with a cheap Leuenberger type of combo is more likely.

But a midfield with Gaz, Pendles, Rockliff, Sloane and Libba will cost next to nothing so who knows.

HotTiges

Guys going for Mumford and Leunberger types..not going to end well...

I'll see what prices turn out like. Having forked out close to/over 700k for Ablett before and not really regretted it, I wouldn't be above spending that much on a player, especially if Ablett gets an injury discount, it will be things like that which will make the decision for me...

ronl

I don't think I will pay that much. Make up for not having him by wise selections on other lines. And there's no guarantee next year will be a carbon copy of 2015. Other teams will work out feasible strategies to counteract his dominance. Not to mention he's well overdue for a LTI.

Bluesalltheway

It's a tough call because Bellchambers this year has taught me to not skimp out on Ruckmen, however if the likes of Jacobs, Stef Martin etc. are at decent prices which allow me to develop my team in other areas, I'll most likely be leaning towards that
