"Despite the best efforts of most Victorian clubs, this year's biggest free agency fish will either stay at Adelaide or move to Geelong to be closer to his family home at nearby Moggs Creek. We expect the two-time All Australian to accept an offer from the Cats of about $800,000 a season over five years. We don't think the Crows will stand in his way by matching the offer. "

People on the inside of the footy would have a pretty good idea about what is happening. Deals being done before contracts are up etc. The quote that worries me is that the Crows wont stand in the way by matching the offer. Is that because we cant fit it in the salary cap or because they respect that he wants to leave?? Why would you so confidently tag that on to the end of the paragraph?

I hope he stays but im going to just cut the rope and assume he is leaving. I think we have good depth in the mids but his explosive bursts from packs and goals from outside 50 are going to become more prevalent and he will become even more dangerous to opposition teams.

Yeah I've accepted it, just hoping to be pleasantly surprised now.. :'(

Frees up $600,000 per year in the Crows salary cap so it's not all bad. Matt Crouch is starting to look like a successor to Scott Thompson (who isn't slowing down) and Brad Crouch just needs to work on his durability. The only difference I can really imagine is 4-5 less burst plays per game for the Crows.

There's a lot of quality free agents available as well

I'm still extremely confident he will stay. I wouldn't trust the bias Victorian media.

If he does go though, I highly doubt we will be accepting the first round compo. I think we'll match and grab Motlop and 1st round if this happens.

Motlop is reportedly being offered $500k by other clubs so it will be easy for the Crows to outbid them if Danger leaves

Aish wants to play in Vic rather than SA - however I don't rate him that highly - but will still be a chance for the Crows as well (they don't really need him though as the Adelaide defence should be the primary area of focus (already have a solid forward line & midfield imo). Adding some experience to the defence would be my area of focus if I were the coach, the Dangerfield void calls for one more mid, however Sloane is already one of the competition's best mids and Brad Crouch will eventually be in that bracket as well (one of the most technically advanced players I've seen)

Our defence isn't that bad tbh, Talia and Lever are locks and will old down the key forwards and one of Cheney/Hartigan will play depending on match ups etc. Brown takes the best small forward does his job every week, Laird who is an absolute gun (In line for AA just quietly), Jaensch (when he's back) and Smith rebound out of defence and it looks pretty good considering Jaensch and Cheney are the oldest at 25.

What we lack is skill and speed and Motlop has both, he would be perfect for the Crows. If (when :P) Danger signs, I hope the Crows do the best they can to get Motlop over here.

Lever is a gun (who I had in mind while writing). I literally forgot about Talia & Laird (idk why, I've really liked Laird this season and Talia is one of the AFL's best full backs). I was aware of Jaensch's injury. Just my personal opinion, Brodie Smith is good, but I think he is overrated (I thought there were better options for AA selection last season - but to be fair I didn't watch much of the Crows in the second half of 2014) - still a good player though.

Considering that I have to agree with you completely about the club's needs (I honestly don't know how I forgot about Talia -probably because he missed last week and was concussed early in the showdown- and Laird - I don't know how I forgot about him as I rate him second to Talia atm). The only way I can see the Crows losing if Dangerfield leaves is if they don't utilise the $600k per season left in the salary cap. Motlop will be practically guaranteed if they are willing to sign him up for that fee

because the premiership building football club is incorrect. Melbourne is alot more interesting for young adults though.

The training precinct at Gosch's paddock will suit him then.  ;D
