Managed to avoid most of the injury carnage, a few trades away from a full 22 now looking to setup my team for a strong $$ League Finals..
My plan every year is finish top 4 of our leagues, try hold 6 trades for finals & have good coverage. Ticked all boxes, pretty happy so far!

7 trades & $303,000

Def: Shaw, Rance, Picken, Newnes, KK, Saad (Hamling, Pearce)
Mid: Fyfe, Mundy, Danger, Ward, JPK, Selwood, Rocky, Cripps (Bonts M/F, Heeney, McKenzie D/M)
R: NicNat, Grundy (Read)
Fwd: Martin, Gray, Swan, TMitch, Gawn, Bennell (Knight M/F, Steele M/F)

Now have Saad, Cripps, Grundy to deal with... How would you do this?

(I am slightly concerned with bringing in Hodge as there is the chance of him getting a rest.)

Option 1: Saad - Hodge, Cripps - Sidebottom
Option 2: Saad - Hodge, Grundy - Jacobs
Option 3: Grundy - Jacobs (low be) Hold 2nd trade
Option 4: Saad - Laird, Hold 2nd trade then next wk Cripps - Pendles/Hanners (high be)
Option 5: Any of the upgrades mentioned & downgrade Grundy to Downie (move Gawn Rucks) then have 5 trades and $500,000 to play with over finals.

Or any other options/ideas??

Grundy to Goldy would be an excellent use of your cash. Not having him robs you of a safe captain option and the highest-scoring player in the game. Gawn is also a solid backup, who can be switched with Read nicely, I would keep him in the forwards.

If I were you:

#1 - Trade Grundy to Goldy (leaves little/no cash $10k?)
#2 - Make a downgrade in your defence, perhaps Hamling to Goddard to free up some cash.
#3 - Aim to bring in a fallen def prem such as Birchall or Houli for Pearce, leaving Saad as a solid bench cover option.

Once these 3 trades are made, your team is set for finals. From there you can sit on your hands for awhile and save some trades for the General or injuries etc. Cripps to a prem would be a luxury you could afford to take once your other lines are set and injury trades aren't as crucial.

Yeah tbh that seems pretty much perfect if it works out cash wise

I have played around with bringing Goldy in.. but at such a premium price it effects my ability to upgrade the others.

Using the two trades suggested (Grundy-Goldy & Hamling-Goddard)
Leaves me with $114,000..

Knowhere near enough to upgrade Pearce and Cripps to Fallen Prems.
I would need roughly $300,000 to do so...

What do you think of Jacobs as a better option that way leaving me the extra $200,000 for other lines??

Jay

Get Goldy and worry about the rest later imo.

Surely that's Clancee Pearce? 385k? Meaning the 110K you have is ample to upgrade him to Birch/Houli etc. If it's Alex then you're flowered mate haha

it is Alex mate, I'm flowered am I?
absolutely nothing I can do with any trades then..

I'd still suggest getting Goldy. I know he's expensive, but there's a very good reason for that. Having him as another Captain option means at least 30-35 points, but up to 60+ points per week, as opposed to upgrading Cripps to a 110 mid and Grundy to a 105 ruck (Jacobs) which nets you around 25-30 points per week.

Bluesalltheway

The form Jacobs has been in it wouldn't be the worst idea to bring him in particularly if it means your team becomes better as a whole
