So did ok even though I didn't captain Goldy or Ablett, have moved up 50 odd spots to hold in the low 1800's and 220k to spend this week.  Here are some of the guys I'm looking at.

Def: McVeigh, Malceski, Barrass

McVeigh has bottomed out whilst Malceski is on the rise.  Can either be trusted more than a guy like Oxley?  That's the question I'm asking myself as a lot of defenders seem to taper off at this end of the season.  At this stage I think Oxley will be my last upgrade.  Rumour out of Perth is that McGovern could miss with a hammy injury and Tm Barrass will be walk up start to debut against Buddy Franklin this week! 120K cash cow! I think I'll pass for his first game, but depending on how long McGovern is sidelined for, he may come in a week later.

Mids: Lewis, Sidebottom

Lewis has been so-so after his suspension not putting up anything close to what he was last year and at the start of this year.  Sidebottom is starting to find his feet again after an injury interrupted season and has most likely bottomed out, he also finished off last season very strong which might be a sign of things to come.  I've got one more spot to fill and if I was able to do it this week I'd take the punt on Sidey, but don't think it's my best move.

Rucks: Jacobs, Martin

In my opinion Jacobs has bottomed out and you either grab him now or you wait to pay more for him later or more for Martin, I think Jacobs will look very nice next to Goldy in my team this week....plus he's playing GC this week and I expect him to hold his average of around 100 here on in.

Fwd: Dahlhaus, Harvey, Goddard, Zorko, Knight

A bevy of fallen premos plus one tasty cash cow.  If I had the cash I would be very keen on bringing Harvey in this week, I think round 16 was the turning point for him this year, and that vest 2 weeks ago really pissed him off.  Dahlhaus, Goddard and Zorko are 3 good options...but, I think Riley Knight is my guy if he can hold his spot.

Trade 1 for me is Leuey -> Jacobs and trade 2 at this tentative stage is McKernan -> Knight

Now this will hurt a little bit but when you wake you'll have Gary.

Sorry fellas, operation Gary was completed last week. :D

my thoughts:
McVeigh - has 11 of his 14 scores over 90, which is GREAT for the backline. I can't doubt his scoring potential, but no preseason MAY lead to him being manged for finals (not likely as he has played every game in the past 4 seasons)

Malceski - definitely on the rise, and seems to be playing a friendly role. Gaj being fully fit helps him here, he's actually got an outlet, rather than copping a fwd tag

Barrass - can't be much more than an A Pearce type, would like as cheapie D8, but wouldn't rely on him too much for cash generation (also wait to see if he's named first)

Lewis - he's no longer playing that 140+ role that he was at the start of the season (he started in the fwds against Sydney), which has restricted his ceiling. Hawks being dominant means he will continue to score well, but they'll probably not look that good until finals now (as they were vs Freo and Sydney)

Sidebottom - injury has hampered him, but seems to be firing on all cylinders, will he score more than Lewis? not too sure, flip a coin on that one

Martin - did VERY well to get as high as 90 after sitting on 19 at HT (was playing fwd and Brisbane's attack as poor), seemed to push into the midfield (and ruck rotation) after Hanley's injury/subbing and that helped his scoring - Leuey doing well in those 2 weeks has definitely impacted him though (more of a 50-50 ruck split, rather than Leuey spudding up fwd)

Jacobs - can honestly say I didn't see that game, but I'd still be wary of picking any Adelaide players this season - I'd also prefer Blicavs over him due to the consistency

Dahlhaus - lovely stuff from the young man, but was that only because Stevens was a late out? hopefully he's done enough to warrant being put back into the midfield, but you can't be sure after his last few weeks

Boomer - seems fired up due to the vest, and should aim to improve with North aiming for finals. However, with only 6 season scores over 80, I just can't go there (and 6 70s in there too)

Goddard - that 29 (and his 2nd half of the season last year) still has him blacklisted for me, and he's personally said that "he's happy to slot in wherever" which can hamper his scoring, particularly as Essendon should be blooding the youth for the rest of the season

Zorko - a real left-field pick, but has scored well since the bye. Got more midfield rotations which helps him, but has that been due to a role change, or filling in due to injuries? If you decide to jump on, I'd wait for the news on Hanley, as I think that (and Martin's suspension) has been the reason for his high-scoring of late

Glad to be of service, I seem to get my advice right for other people 80% of the time yet for myself only 50%! :(

GAZ and Bartell join my team this week at the expense on McKernan and Barlow

So who are you picking up then?  Your least negative reviews seems to be Malceski followed by Martin... And why no to any Crows player?  Danger and Jacobs have been 2 of the more consistent guys going around this season, I haven't looked at their draw home though so that could be why, otherwise I don't see any other reason to not pick Jacobs up if you can't reach big Stef.

timmyparso

Jacobs is a good pick, consistant too, really only had 1 bad game 2 weeks back which can be excused.

not sure I'd trust Malceski after his start this year but may prove to be a good pod.

The_Captain

Ablett in this week as had to get rocky in last week because of his low Be. Getting Ablett for 590k is still a steal but.
