Can I please use this game as an example of how being tall doesnt make you a ruck. Mckernan is about as effective as putting boomer harvey up against goldstein. You neeed to be a ruck to compete not just tall.

Purple 77

So... Goldstein has made team of the week. Oh, mercy.

How about if a player gets ruck status in SC they keep it for life in WXV (@ 0.9 if they lose it in SC)? Is anyone really going to feel hard done by that Vickery gets career long DPP? There's nothing stopping him from stepping back into the ruck in the AFL so WXV having the option isn't that unreasonable.
I think that's a pretty decent solution, but I'd probably add that the player needs to have had ruck statues for a season after their rookie year.

I might be wrong but I think Joe Daniher had F/R first season but hasn't really played there since being drafted, consequentially losing it. In such a case I'd argue that he doesn't deserve it for the rest of his career in Worlds.

i still think leave it as is

agree
1 people traded hard to have playing rucks so is not fair too them

2 it adds a good strategy to the game in how hard you go for them and also a drafting strategy

3 not every team can be strong in every line (yes i know the point is OOP makes htem terribly weak in that line but as RD said about new york) yes they traded away a lot of rucks (granted they didn't know how blicavs would turn out though he should lose ruck status imo as he averages les hit outs then a lot who played less then him and less then kurt tippett who is non ruck but that is for SC to decide and another matter sorry getting carried away)

anyway i point is i think RD & AK done well to cash in to make there teams stronger so they may get hurt but also having rucks be such a short supply they got a hell of alot more bang for there buck so to speak

P.S yeah we have a few at PNL and still struggle Lobbe doing crap, griffin & campbell in line for 1st game of year finally and Cordy well we were better off with a OOP compared to him...lol....and nauismith not even played......but point is we brough in cambell, & naismith for extra chance of having a ruck and also have kept cordy for this whole time only for the chance of needing a ruck if he got a game

so it is something able to do just means you need to pay up more

take Holz at Dublin for example i can guarantee is goldy done his knee and was out for season no one would care as much they instead would be happy saying it gives everyone else a chance at the flag

i like it the way it is
again i commend the thought process in wanting to grow and improve but also remember it is a great comp already and too much tinkering isn't needed imo at least not for now

a lot of ideas that people come up with could be trialled in a pre season type comp but would rather that at the most atm to see how things pan out (and not for ruck ruling i mean rule changes in general that are not obvious)

PPS: for new york as an example tippett should have a good chance of getting ruck next year if he continues to get hit outs (that or blicavs should lose it imo again rattling on issue for another time)

so they have either another option so it does not happen needing OOP ruck

or 2 talk up the fact he may well be R/F and cash in once again big time

so mean tippet who may usually not really be that "sought" after suddenly become hot property and beneficial so them even though they struggle for a ruck now

so 2 sides to it really

needless prattling rant over :P

I would most definitely not love that  :(

This VC curse is really pissing me off. Decided to do something different and put it on the ever consistent Jamie Macmillan as a safe option - and of course he gets injured. Hope he's okay cause he was making his way into the top echelon of defenders in this game

Frustrating as the others all went big, but Macmillan's score drags the total down

Have refrained from commenting as I am in two minds.  Using Royals for example I thought having Bellchambers and Giles would be a fair ruck strategy.  How wrong has that been and fortunately have had Sinclair to fall back on.

So just highlighting you can go the one team strategy and fail as well and no I do not want McKernan so back to the drawing board with trades.

So my opinion is that even if you have no rucks playing you should incur the normal OOP penalty despite the fact it may hurt me at the moment.

Congrats on Dublin's Todd Goldstein coming just the 3rd player to crack the big two-oh-oh

His score of 221 puts him ahead of former New York player, now retired, Dean Cox's 215 in 2012, but behind team-mate Lance Franklin's monster 236 (also in 2012, but playing for Berlin at the time).

All 3 of them got the score while being captain, for extra pain.

Team Submission stuff:

@Seoul, you had 3 players named on an AFL list that you didn't see... they are now your emergencies, in list preference order

No accidental OOP's...

Players receiving rest bonus this week:
Josh P Kennedy (Cape Town)
Farren Ray (PNL)
Jake Stringer (Christchurch)

Players rested this week:
Jeremy Howe (Pacific)
Sean Dempster (Christchurch)
Jordan Lewis (Mexico City)
Nick Malceski (PNL)

kilbluff1985

i only realized Ashby was playing last night

i looked at our list just trying to find emergencies for like 15min lol

Purple 77

After last night...

A poor start for Moscow, but the real story was the mammoth effort from Dublin captain Goldstein... Can Dublin beat their previous best of 1919?
