What happens if captain isn't in best 18?

Sorry if this has been answered before.. But, for example, Fyfe's score might not be in peoples top 18. Will it count because the score is doubled? Or will it not be doubled because it doesnt count?

89x2 = 178

If you have 18 other scores above this, then Fyfe's score will not count
