Anyone think he can be a top 10 defender from here on in?

Ricochet

Yeh not sure mate, I've been considering him all week. At his price he is so cheap but he has been average for most of this year

Mr.Craig

I can't see it happening.

I am going to pass

Grazz

He's cheap but tbh i wouldn't be going there.

Mr.Craig

I'm already there, that's the issue.

Capper

2 scores over 90 and they were R1 &2.

No thanks

He keeps getting knocked out that's why he isn't averaging much. Ive had him since lastweek because he was too cheap to ignore and you don't get 500 trades like AFL Fantasy .. yes was a cheap risky upgrade but I think he can go 80+ easy when fit ... Gotta risk it to get the biscuit (cant remember who's saying that is)

The concussions have been a severe hiccup in a season which Smith is looking to build on his 2014 All Australian selection.

Last year he was ranked second in the League for rebound 50s and averaged a career-high 23 disposals a game.

He'd had 29 possessions before he was stretchered off against the Magpies and had been in great touch the week before against North Melbourne.

But he struggled to reach his expectations in the rounds that followed, averaging fewer than 17 touches a game in the four that led to his run-in with Riewoldt.

Now the lingering effects from the two concussions have subsided, Smith will look to again assert himself one of the AFL's premier rebounding defenders

And that is also why he won't find his way into my team this year.

Don't expect anyone to put him in on the back of what I said, just giving my opinion.

Yeah fair enough, I just personally wouldn't risk a guy that has had two concussions in such a short amount of time. The effects can linger on for a while and players can take 6-7 weeks before they start feeling 100% normal again. If you're 5% off these days it shows because of the pace of the game.

Think that's why they have been cautious with him. I see Matt Maguire has retired because of headknocks and concussion, its a touchy subject at the moment. There is definitely risk in putting Smith in your team im just trying to justify why I put him in mine  :)

He was a tadd unlucky the two times he was concussed.

i can see clubs being even more cautious no that Goose has retired due to concussions

Yeah a lot of players miss the following week these days after being knocked out when not so long ago they didn't. Clubs are cautious now and they were with Smith. He was rested for 2 weeks after his second concussion, he then played 1 game then they had the bye. He looked alright last week scoring 80 points. If he was to get knocked out again then who knows what would happen and how much time he would need to be sidelined for.

Rusty00

I'm not convinced he can replicate last year's scoring from now on..........

Bought him in last week :-X :P :-\
