AAP bliCaves in to EurAsia Goldstein

Wow! WHAT A MATCH! The Alliance seemed to be just in front the whole match, but lost the lead at the end! In the final sprint, there was only one man left standing; enter Kade Simpson. The man that won last year's Worlds Medal for best afield; he needed 96 points to bring it home for the AAP. Heart-breakingly for AAP, he fell 8 points short, as the Holz coached EurAsia defeated the JROO8 coached AAP Alliance in a 1 point (7 SC points) victory for the ages!

The 4th occurrence of the epic encounter is perhaps the most memorable, with the win to EurAsia squaring up the ledger to 2-apiece.

The game saw an incredible 16 centurions (9-7 to EurAsia) and is unsurprisingly the highest scoring match so far in the year. Perhaps the most unique stat of the match was that 4 ruckman played between the teams (2 each), where they combined for 573 points (captain bonuses aside). Furthermore, two of these ruckman (as hinted in the headline); Goldstein (154) and Blicavs (153) were the captains for the game and the two highest scoring players  :o

Both teams had their disappointments; for EurAsia, look no further than Tom McDonald (36) and Luke Hodge (57), and for the AAP Tom Mitchell (49) and Steele Sidebottom (70) crumbled under the pressure. EurAsia had 4 scores under 70 compared to the AAP's 1, but it was the inspired performances of Dublin's Goldstein, Moscow's Nic Naitanui (146) and Berlin's Nat Fyfe (138) that got them over the line in the end.

EurAsia (25.18.168) def AAP Alliance (25.17.167)

Best

EurAsia: Nat Fyfe (Berlin), Patrick Dangerfield (Seoul), Dan Hannebery (London), Callan Ward (Moscow), Todd Goldstein (Dublin), Dane Swan (PNL), Matt Priddis (PNL), Nic Naitanui (Moscow), Alex Rance (Dublin)
AAP Alliance: Heath Shaw (New York), Scott Pendlebury (Toronto), Dayne Beams (Cairo), Mark Blicavs (Cape Town), Brett Deledio (Mexico City), Stefan Martin (Cape Town), Josh P Kennedy (Cape Town)

Late Changes
EurAsia: Kurt Heatherley (Dublin), Jaeger O'Meara (Moscow) replaced by Nic Naitanui (Moscow), Alex Rance (Dublin)

TODD GOLDSTEIN wins the EURASIA Medal and the WORLDS Medal

And Beijing's Petracca! Don't forget him!

But woo EurAsia, hopefully Beijing might feature a bit more prominently next year :P

Holz

Interesting note.

Dublin + fyfe would have scored 168 and matched Euroasia

Jukes

We would've scored 148 this week without HGA, 154 with HGA

That's not too shabby, inb4 130 next week tho

Hogan + Seedsman out and Gray getting knocked out hurt the score
