Is Hodge really worth it?

I think I'm going to avoid for now, he will be top 5 but don't think he will keep up his current average. Chance to be suspended, injured rested. I'm bringing in Houli for Saad this week, which will leave my defense as Shaw, Simpson, Rance, Houli, Newnes, C.Pearce. Newnes to Hodge may be a luxury trade if I can later. Shaw is a bigger must have if you don't have him I think.

Houli comes in to give me TMac, Shaw, Houli, Simpson, Murphy and LOLmumba and once I trade the prince of potatoes to Hodge in a couple of weeks I reckon it leaves me with a great backline

If you can afford him, get him..defender at a midfield price and scoring well enough..ill probably use cash elsewhere

LOL someone is repeating himself  ;D

Hodge definitely worth it. Will average more than any other defender IMO for the rest of the season.

He is spending plenty of time in the midfield, Mitchell, Lewis and Hill get tagged before him and Hawthorn cannot afford to rest players if they want to finish top 2 to get a home final.

No brainer as a DPP and into my side this week.

I guess at his price he isn't going anywhere. If he gets a niggle then u have dodged a bullet

Actually you know what?

I'll bring in Houli at 480k this week, and then in a couple of weeks time when I can, I will get rid of the spud LOLmumba and upgrade him to Hodge, who will have fallen a bit in value by then hopefully

Done and Done :)

Holding Bumba for a couple more weeks? That's a couple too many imo

Gone next week for me

Also bringing in Houli this week, Hodge too much $$

Even against Brisbane in Tasmania in Rd.22?

I reckon he'll have a week off at some stage before the finals. Not sure that's a strong enough reason not to bring him in though.

I'd prefer to wait for him to drop in value

That 177 really made his average better than what I think his season reflects.

Not a big fan of paying so much for a defender either, and when you factor in age, potential resting etc I think 540k+ is too much at the moment, when guys like Houli, Gibson etc should be able to average similar for 60k less

Agree, much better value with Houli, Gibson, Tmac etc all <$500K

Skipper Luke Hodge also flew out with the team, despite training with a compression bandage on his left calf during the week.

Clarkson said his premiership captain had "no worries" and would play against the Crows.

I'm now swaying towards Picken.  Hodge's injury/sub history is starting to tell me he might not be worth it.
