Does what Cousins admitted to (ie the drugs) affect the opinion you have on him?

No it does not. He was a champion footballer and and also a great bloke off the field. The dark path he went down when he was younger with the drugs doesn't change that.
Whenever I or people I know have talked to him at an eagles training or where ever they always say how nice he was and that he'd always a chat with you.
I still have a note from him with his signature and a few words that my grandfather got from Cousins in the very early 2000's

Well, "great bloke off the field" is a harder argument to sell I think.

I'm sure, like you say Senior, he's probably great to have a chat with. But in the end people judge actions not words.

I don't know him or anyone that does, so I'm not saying he isn't a great bloke, but from observable stuff through the media (who are admitedly arseholes), it suggests otherwise.

Judd, Cousins, Kerr and Cox at their peaks surely the best starting midfield the game has ever seen.

Voss, Black, Akermanis, Lappin are right up there as well. and probably someone else but I'm blank atm

the big name there is Cox though, that's the only real difference between the starting midfield

I'd have Judd just in front of Cousins as well

Yeah Cox is the big difference. Lions midfield was deeper (also had Hart, Scott, etc plus Keating/McDonald/Charman in ruck), but for starting midfields you can't go past those 4 mentioned by jb.

I agree with what you're saying, the media are assholes especially to him which is understandable from his off field issues. Most the time when he has reacted poorly to the media is when they follow him non stop/won't leave him alone. A lot of the time though he is the one that puts himself in that situation though.  :-\

I'd say geelongs midfield through 07-10 was also up there. Ablett, Bartel, Selwood, Corey, Chapman and Ling with Ottens as ruckmen. Although the eagles and lions were still better imo.

Also voted Judd, only because of leadership qualities as others have said.

I still think he is on that dark path which is the problem. Players are always great to their fans but its away from the footy where you really see how they can be.

I know a certain first grade NRL coach who seems like a great bloke and was an awesome player. But off the feild after a couple of drinks he was an arsehole. I remember one night at a night club he wanted to sit on a stoll so he saw a young girl about to sit down. So he stole it off her and watched her fall to the ground and laughed at her.

Another ex-NRL player threw a pay phone across the room of the local about 15 years ago. That local hasnt replaced the phone until he pays for it. So if you ask at the local if they have a pay phone, they say "ask *player*"

Grazz

Very hard to split, both incredible players. Like a few others Judd's leadership tips it his way for me but if i was a coach id of been thrilled to have had either and would of loved having both.

JBs-Hawks

The one thing I dont like about Judd is, He was the captain of the Eagles, and left.

I once saw Cousins out at a nightclub just minding his own business, a girl came over to chat with him, a few minutes later her boyfriend comes over and starts taking swings...guy couldn't catch a break.  With so many arseholes in Perth imagine how hard it would be when you're a known person. :(

Can't forget old mates Chad Fletcher and Michael Gardiner :P
Chad Fletcher is perennially underrated.

The battles Sydney used to have with them... wowee. It was basically a well rounded team (us) vs the best midfield of all time + Darren Glass.

Kellogscrunchynut

Adam Hunter was a decent swingman in those days.

I just hope Oscar Judd and Bobby Cousins play at the eagles in 15 or so years!!  ;D

Yeah there are many of them here.
Benny is pretty cool tho,my son was at a Sharks game and saw Ben there with his son,my son went over and asked him to sign a footy for him and they had a bit of a chat as well, son said he was pretty nice.
Wish they'd just let him be to try and sort his shower out.
