With the announment of Judds retirement i wanted to see who people thought had a better career out of Cousins and Judd. I know alot of people will say Judd, but i think Cousins was absouetly incredible aswell, but it seems alot of people forget that nowadays with all of his off field issues, the media always putting him down and the AFL not inducting him into the Hall of Fame
Here are some of there accomplishments:

Chris Judd
6X All-Australian
5X Best & Fairest (2 at WCE and 3 at Carlton)
2X Brownlow Medalist in 2004 & 2010 (2009 Runner-up)
2005 North Smith Medal
2X AFL MVP
2006 AFL Premiership (Captain)
279 AFL Games, 228 Goals

Ben Cousins
6X All-Australian
4X West Coast Best & Fairest
2005 Brownlow Medal (2003 Runner-up)
2005 AFL MVP
2006 AFL Premiership
1996 AFL Rising Star
270 AFL Games, 217 Goals

As you can see alot of there accomplishments are similar, but Judd has the slight edge. Cousins was suspended for most of 07 and missed the entire 08 season which you could say were his prime years so he could have won a few awards during that time.

So what is your opinion on the two? Judd being alot better, Judd slighty better, the two being equal or Cousins being the better of the two?

Judd being the slightest bit better, at his peak Cousins left everyone else for dead.

Judd, Cousins, Kerr and Cox at their peaks surely the best starting midfield the game has ever seen.

Incredibly close skills wise - but Judd's leadership is enough for me to vote for him ahead of Cousins. Remember they sacked Cousins after the 2005 GF, perhaps they would have won that flag if he was a better leader? Ifs and buts yeah, but who knows.

I think so, Kerr gets very underated now just because be played alongside those 2 and Cox is probably a top 3 ruckmen of all time

Doesn't matter who was better than who. They were both champion players and as an Eagles supporter it was a pleasure watching them every week and being in awe of how great they both were

Both utter legends.  Judd was sooo damaging at his peak, but Cousins was such a workhorse who never knew the word quit and played at such an immaculate level all the time.  As a West Coast supporter Cousins, as a football supporter Judd by a millimetre.

I will forever remember Ben Cousins 2007 comeback match. One of the best games I've witnessed. The roar of the crowd when he came on still gives me goosebumps. imo he would have been the best in the afl that year if he didn't get suspended for his drug use

Judd winning the norm smith in 2005 when we lost, yet still painful I think that was one of the best games he played just incredible. It will be so strange next year without him in the comp.  :-[

Does what Cousins admitted to (ie the drugs) affect the opinion you have on him? I cant remember if he ever played after taking drugs but i wouldnt have thought so.

The other thing i found surprising was that Cousins missed most of 07 and 08 and still Judd only played 9 more games

Cousins had a better peak, Judd had a better start to his carrer.

Judd just

Nah, he talks about it in his autobiography. Only ever after games and only if they had a long break (i.e. not 5/6 day breaks) so he wouldn't be affected for the next game, and in the off-season ofc.

I did two assignments on his autobiography for uni last year :3
