why are people trading 3 people this week...what a waste.
Fixing bye structure, jumping on rookies on the bubble, upgrading rookies to get more points, etc

running out of trades by round 16..

but if you have a completed side, then you're not going to burn through the trades

my intention is to have a virtually completed side (18 keepers, with Tadams F6 and Neale M7) after my rd13 efforts - but I'll have 7 trades remaining (using 9 trades over the byes, 5 downgrades, 4 upgrades)

then what'll be the point in trading? unless your draw-trading for finals (or injuries)

edit: for the record, that side will look like
Hodge, Yeo, H Shaw, Everitt, Newnes, Hibberd (Savage, Hamling)
Lewis, Pendlebury, Fyfe, Priddis, Parker, Sloane, Neale, Kavanagh (Boston, McKenzie, throwaway FM)
Mumford, Maric (Brooksby)
R Gray, Dahlhaus, Deledio, D Martin, Ziebell, Adams (Hogan, O'Brien)

I'm still haunted by the massacre during last years DT/Fantasy finals where doughnuts were a plenty due to lack of trades.

I will have 15 trades left and $657K for next week so will burn trades in Rounds 12 and 13. Armed and dangerous  8)

Vindicate

For the purposes of overall ranking its better off to burn your trades as soon as possible. This is because trading more aggressively ensures you have a completed team relatively early. This equates to having more points on the board. This risk you run is if you run out of trades and are unable to deal with any carnage that will inevitably crop up.

For me, I should have a near to completed team by round 14 and will have 5 trades left

Hodge, Yeo, Picken, Simpson, Newnes, McIntosh (McKenzie, Hamling)
Lewis, Heppell, Ward, JPK, Parker, Sloane, Selwood, Rockliff (Bontempelli, Amon, Kavanagh)
Goldstein, Jacobs (Brooksby)
R Gray, Dahlhaus, Swan, D Martin, TMitchell, Devon Smith(Rookie, Rookie)

Obviously with McIntosh in my team it isn't complete but with defenders being as average as they have been this year I don't see at as being as huge a problem. One of the rookies I plan to downgrade in the forward line will be MID/FWD dpp and this will allow me to use Bontempelli and bench cover for both my middle and forward lines should I get any smaller injuries. The big question is, will I get more than 6 major injuries to my team after round 14? If not than I should be fine and hopefully can score quite well. If not than I am in a bit of trouble. I feel though that the reward justifies the risk and that is why I will be trading aggressively over the byes.

some valid points on trading. but i think 3 trades is a bit crazy. unless u have 2-3 players who are not going to play all bye weeks likd VDB or rocky i still think ur better off doing a trade this week and 3 each in the following weeks.

Ricochet

Looking at Saad to Gray, McIntosh up to a RD13 defender and Kraks down to Boston. Was loaded with RD11 and RD12 bye players so needed a couple of RD13 premos, and grabbing Boston on the bubble

See but the other issue is if you are bye heavy in one round (like missing a fair chunk next week like I am in SC for example), you may have to make 3 trades both this week and next week to even start 18 in that round. It's not like I am culling premos, I am dumping guys like Bellcho, Cam Ellis-Yolmen and Krak who are all either topped out or out of the side

Mat0369

Actually Ellis-Yolmen is probably a poor example, Miller is probably a better example since he has the round 12 bye

Getting some cash in the bank this week. Going Naismtih to Brooksby for cover at R3, and Saad to Boston.

My bye structure is actually very good, 9/11/10, so looking at moving up the rankings quite a bit hopefully, with 560k in the bank. Will bring Pendles in after his bye for McCarthy or Hogan via DPP, and will go Kelly to Hodge next week.

Brooksby out with a calf mate.

Brooskby out sends me back to the drawing board

request time:
rd13 premo fwd/mid (NOT Gray or Priddis) and a rd13 downgrade mid/fwd (not Dumont)

Mat0369

I'm still thinking of grabbing Brooksby. It is just a cash dump more then anything. Downside is I also have Read who will sit at F8

Round 13 premium mids to consider would probably include: Gaff, Shuey, Ward, Shiel, Ebert, Treloar to name a few. As for forwards there is (DSmith, Ziebell, perhaps Higgins).

Round 13 mid or forward downgrade targets is a bit more difficult. The only two that spring to mind are the two from the Melbourne squad, Stretch or Neal-Bullen.

ive been playing around with trades to see how my team would look with these 3 trades used....

8k short to go bellchambers, CEY, VDB to goldy, boston and fyfe so i went goldy, boston and heppell

what are peoples thoughts?

it leaves me with 51k in bank

then next week i can go mckintosh/saad to hodge/hamling IF saad doesnt drop more than 12k this week....touch and go

unless you need the extra midfielder this week, why not make Saad->APearce instead? (of getting in Heppell)
then you can make the double upgrade next week (of KMac/CEY to Hodge/Heppell) a lot easier, unless Heppell goes 130+

edit: forgot that Heppell has the bye next week, might need to reconsider that one

Rusty00

To get the minimum 18 playing this week have decided on:

Krakouer > Boston
Cripps > Wines

Was hoping to keep Cripps but all the outs this week has killed off that idea. If McKenzie doesn't make the final 22 then I'll have to trade McIntosh as well which will really suck as it will stuff up plans for the next 2 rounds.

Really hope McKenzie makes the cut :-\

Mr.Craig

I turfed Bonts which gave me enough money to get Fyfe and Ebert.
