Is there a limit to how many trades we can do in this period?

Nope

But the way you're going, wouldn't think you'd want to do many trades :P

Quetzals' premiership challenge takes flight

BREAKING: THE Quito Quetzals have sounded a warning to the rest of their premiership contenders that they mean business by securing the first deal of the Americas XVIII trade mid-season trade period.

The 'mega- trade' will see New Brooklyn Hawks superstars Brendon Goddard and Bryce Gibbs arrive in Quito in exchange for two emerging stars in Matt Crouch and Mark Blicavs.

The Quetzals have been on a red-hot streak of form recently but, their coach Memphistopheles felt his side was a missing piece of the puzzle in the race to claim the 2015 flag.

He said picking up a quality, premium midfielder was always on the agenda for the mid-season trade period and was delighted with the signings of Goddard and Gibbs.

"The acquisition of Brendon and Bryce will go a long way to rectifying the hole left in our midfield by the retirement of Chris Judd and should help transform us in to a genuine premiership threat," Memphistopheles said.

"Both players were very keen to join us in Quito and when we were alerted to the fact they were on the market we just couldn't pass up this opportunity to sign them."

Memphistopheles was disappointed to lose Blicavs and Crouch but thanked them for their service to the club and wished them all the best for the future.

"In order to sign big name players you need to give up some major talent and that's what the Hawks will get in Blicavs and Crouch.

Blicavs was in career best form this season and could be anything in the future while Crouch has also started showing signs that he's ready to take his game to the next level," he said.

When questioned about whether there would be any other deals to come in this trade period Memphistopheles was coy, saying he wouldn't be drawn on whether the Quetzals had been chasing players at any other clubs.

"I can tell you that there has been some interest in our players from opposition clubs though and rightly so given the form we have been in."

Trade Deal

Quito gives: Mark Blicavs and Matt Crouch.

New Brooklyn gives: Brendon Goddard and Bryce Gibbs

Pkbaldy to confirm

Confirmed. Very hard to see both Gibbs and Goddard have to go. But to me Goddard is useless, I wont be challenging for the flag long until the man is in his 50s (bit over the top) and Goddard in the forward will help Quito push deeper for the flag contention which he is attempting for. So to me it's a Gibbs for Blicavs + M.Crouch. Which works for me a LOT! Good to have the Pig Crouch brothers playing in the same team.

Long Term PK wins easily I think as Crouch is 20 and Blicavs is 24. Short term (this year and as long as Goddard is playing) it's a big win for me.

Works well for both teams' needs.

This is kind of the argument against a mid-season trade period in practice here as teams not in contention can target premiums from a team not going to win that year and trade them good kids for them.

However, it also helps New Brooklyn set up for the future quicker. Goddard's currency would have dropped by the end of the season and Blicavs and Crouch's could have risen.

And, plenty of other teams could have seen that New Brooklyn were struggling and had a couple of older guys who they woudl probably trade for a fair deal and made a similar offer.

+1

Objectively, I think it's the best case scenario for both sides

Pkbaldy

Yup. I believe Goddard only has 2 more years of being fantasy relevant... So why would I waste my time with him, when the team i've picked up at the start of this year traded out one of it's best players for about 4 draft picks... Clearly it's a full rebuild, so not much point having a veteran in my team.

Jukes

It's just too bad that it won't matter, because SFG are winning the next 10 flags :P

Memphistopheles

Does anyone want my mid-season draft picks?

I'll put them on the table for a trade.

Also these blokes are on the trade table if anyone is interested. I'm chasing players who would improve my best XVIII (80+ avg defender, 100 avg midfielder, 95+ avg forward). Happy to package a couple of these promising players for one gun (and someone you don't want).

Defenders

  • Garrick Ibbotson
  • Tom Langdon
  • Chris Yarran
  • Shannon Hurn
  • Jarryn Geary
  • Nick Vlastuin
  • Matt Suckling
  • Jordan Roughead

Midfielders

  • Jesse Lonergan
  • Corey Ellis
  • Lachlan Weller
  • Jack Steele
  • Harrison Marsh

Rucks

  • Jake Spencer
  • Scott Lycett

Forwards

  • Tom J Lynch
  • Cam Pedersen
  • Lewis Jetta
  • Jamie Cripps
  • Travis Cloke
  • Craig Bird
  • Matt White (58)
  • Jeremy Cameron
  • Paul Chapman
  • Sam Reid
  • Chris Dawes
  • Taylor Garner
  • Toby Mclean
  • Mitch McGovern

Or if you're keen on someone else on my list come talk to me and we'll work out a deal.[/list]

elephants

Haha ok, if no-one else has major objections then I'm absolutely fine with it. Good dealing lads.
