I dunno why people worry about the 'top 6' or the 'top 7' in defence.

It's likely the top 15-20 defenders will all average within 10ppg of each other so it is irrelevant.

Shaw, Hodge, Simpson, TMac, Rance, Hibberd, Smith, Gibson, Houli, Birchall, Bob, Hurley, Johnson, Docherty, Taylor would be a fairly good bet for top 15.

Pretty much. That's why it's best to upgrade defence last and just get whoever you can afford at the time. Houli and Rance will drop a bit over the coming weeks, for example.

Agree. I'm fielding Shaw, Newnes, Lumumba, Saad, Lever, Jake Kelly this coming round - not a single upgrade back there yet...

Rest of the team looks ok though

I don't know, js, I see the point you're making, but I can't go another week with Lumumba in my backline, he's costing me more money than my first wife, and she played in the midfield!  :o

js19

Haha, touche ronl! Not going to ask which team she played for!  ;D

I could punt him and keep Miller instead this week, but for the byes it makes things more difficult

What are people's thoughts on Brodie Smith?
Opened the season with a bang, unlucky with a couple of big concussions but also put in a few mediocre scores also.

Seems to me that he's been a bit rattled by those concussions more than he is 'struggling' with form which suggests to me that he could reproduce that 90-100+ avg.

1. Do we think he can get back to averaging 90+?
2. For those with Lumumba, would you consider a straight swap for Smith hoping he can get some form back?

1. Yes
2. No. I'd like to see him get back in form first.

Smith after his bye for me. Lamumbas only value for me will be his piddly score in round 12.

BomberSam

Yep, Oxley to Smith after his bye for me.

Does anyone think Saad could be a keeper?

Why couldn't Ox be too? Averaging the same

I'm thinking of keeping one of them through the byes and beyond.

He could be, just not for me, because I can't bear his inconsistency.

ronl

I'm holding Saad until I'm forced to do otherwise, think he's got a touch of class.

What do to do with pittard keep him or trade him, because he will loose a fair bit of cash

Don't overlook C.Pearce and Docherty

Regarding Docherty, he would slide into my Top 7.

Despite an inconsistent start to the year, including a 147 to start the season followed by a 60 two weeks later, Docherty has now started to find his range. He is averaging 93, and will keep a similar if not identical role at the blues throughout the season, meaning similar scores.

Docherty does, however, have a tendency to fade out in patches throughout the game, and has been what has stopped him converting his scores in the 90s to monsters.

Docherty has the potential to cement his name as a premium defender by the end of 2015.

I've come to the realization that a few weeks ago I traded in the spud of all spuds.

Probably have to wait until his bye, trade him round 13
