Think he started slow last year also and then came back with consistency And some big scores later in the year. This may happen again?
But I agree there is only so much u can put up with, as an underperforming premo. As u said maybe wait till bye and if he's still not getting it done move him on.
I'm not considering him at all atm.

Frozensage

If had a crap game and gave away a lot of stupid frees with a 50. Still got 87. I'll be holding. I still have griffen and nicnat to worry bout.

PICCOLLO

I guess you gotta stick it out as he's a proven gun.

Lucky for us who don't have him. Makes getting 'the tree' an easier decision

He did cop a hard tag but what is puzzling is the umpires are quick to pay a free kick in the back or forward line if the player is manhandling there opponent with there back to the ball , Curnow did that all night to Selwood and I don't think he got 1 free for that but the Blues are rubbish and they have to try to do something from getting beaten by 100 points every week but it is not the way we want to see the game go IMO

True but read RD's OP and still Shrugwood isn't scoring well enough to be considered a gun mid keeper.

ATM that is true but he did a similar thing last year then went bang it is Selwood must keep the faith unless you have lots of trades left

RaisyDaisy

All this talk about him doing it last year etc - It's not correct

First 8 games 2015 - 69, 110, 154, 84, 83, 104, 89, 90 = Avg 97.875
First 8 games 2014 - 157, 140, 138, 126, 83, 82, 93, 140 = Avg 119.875

22ppg difference is massive!

That's good evidence RD thought his slump last year was a bit longer than 3 games but if I traded him out next week I know exactly what will happen plus I can't afford any sideway trades , one thing is sure that if you bite the bullet on him two things will happen it will be a masterstroke or you will be crying in your weeties  :P

Jimmykidd

I was going to trade him in, and thought he'd have a big game against the blues. Thankfully I didn't, and I won't be ever at this stage.

_wato

Will be $516k next week, sooo tempting to bring him in

I honestly don't think we should be worrying, his DT numbers are down by nearly 10ppg from last year and his efficiency (DT to SC) hasn't been the greatest.. Usually he's 10-15 points up on his DT numbers but currently only 1 or 2, so he's still producing fairly good numbers but it isn't translating to SC points (before last night was averaging 26 disposals per game which is up from last year and the same amount of tackles and marks so that's clearly not an issue, it's just where he's getting it and his influence on the game at times)

I'd be holding onto him, and I'm contemplating Cripps -> Jelwood

Ringo

Hard one RD - I would be seriously considering getting rid of Jelwood if I had the luxury of trades available which I do not due to injury trades. So he will stay in my team and may be a luxury trade down the track.

What concerns me most about Selwood and this has happened over the last 2 years when tagged wavily he seems to over react and concentrates more on his opponent than the team.  Last night he did score 83 points in 3 quarters of football was only on 7 at quarter time. At least i did not do the VC option with him this week.

An interesting stat that I found from last year not that it should surprise Jelwood Free kick Count For 60 Against 27 an average of say 3 a game and 1 against means a differential of 12 SC points per game.  Thought may be a factor but looked at this years and stats similar.

As has been said maybe the time that Selwood as a fantasy relevant player is coming to an end. Pity those that have both Jelwwod and SJ.

lukebomber

Stuck in the same boat and have him too, his biggest issue seems to be the amount of clangers this year, seems like he has 5-6 most games which is concerning

honza

I'll be picking him up soon for Selwood Season which is typically the last 10 rounds

_wato

I can't believe you all think this is the end of Selwood fantasy wise? This has clearly got to be a joke right?

If you're comapring him with Judd, at 27 Judd averaged 118 and didn't average under 105 until he was 30. Jelwood is 27.

Obviously he's out of form but he's a champion, one of the greatest ever players to reach 100 games, is a captain, multiple all Australian player, rated among the top 3/4 players in the game and still has a lot to offer as a footballer.

Yes he's getting attention but the best of the best rise above that and although his SC scores aren't reflecting his output (which has been pretty good) it's only 7 rounds in

I never said it was the end of him LOL

The simple fact is that he isn't producing. The comparison with Judd was to highlight that eventually even the absolute best start to decline, and it could be for various factors, but we often get caught up in the nostalgia of it all and keep hanging onto them expect and hoping they will turn it around, but there is no guarantee he will

5 out of 8 sub 90 scores speaks for itself

I am not going to luxury trade him now, but if this continues for another few weeks then eventually you have to make the hard call

Hopefully for all of us Jelly owners he will start firing like we know he can

DazBurg

lets hope he firers back up
next 4 games before the bye are WC, Bombers, Port, Dees
his scores last year against these teams were
126, 138, 82, 144

11 scores last year were over 120
3 of them coming from these 4 teams
so i'm hoping we are in for a big form turn around ;)

Never said it was you in particular did I? Ahahahhahahaha I should've said 'contemplating' his loss of sc relevance

Yes 5/8 sub 90 scores looks bad but he's averaging 97 which isn't at all that bad

Ablett in 2013 went 100, 67, 100, 90 and we all questioned him then he went bang and got 164
Rocky in 2012 was averaging 111 and then had 8 of his next 9 scores were under 100 (6/8 under 90) and he ended up averaging 97

Yes it's concerning, but I honestly think people are being way too reactive
