You traded him in for scores of 70 and 26? Oh man. :( That's not good

I feel sorry for Mick. His list is shower

But he was around when they decided to bring in Tutt and Jones, so I don't feel "as" sorry for him now

I don't considering he is largely responsible for the list being crap.

He doesn't get the whole say in the list. In fact I'm pretty certain coaches get less than 50% say on the list

And the list was shower before he got there. Didn't help that spuds like Jones and Tutt were recruited, but that list is just horrible

Mailman the 2nd

nah their squad was in decent nick. They were flag contenders in 2012 when they went 6-3 in their first 9 games but then lost 4 in a row and fell in a hole that sent them out of finals

It got significantly worse when Malthouse joined

This

He is largely responsible for Carlton moving backwards, he was brought in to take the list the next step but the fact is most of the players have regressed under him. He has struggled to develop any of the kids we had and we have lost 5 or 6 guys that are best 22 while bringing in crap to replace them. Do you think Carlton would have forked out that much cash for Dasiy if Mick wasn't coach?

Obviously a few of the picks you can blame on the recruitment department and that is why we have gone after SOS

This was the list at the start of the 2013 season

Menz
Murphy
Gibbs
Judd
Simmo
Buckley
Kreuz
Lucas

It has been completely gutted in the time Malthouse has been at Carlton. While there are a few guys there that are obviously dead weight (Joseph) you have lost a core group of players that have slotted into the best 22 of other teams (Waite, Laidler, Betts, Garlett, Robbo), and a couple of them were considered leaders at the club before Malthouse got there (Betts and Laidler). We have replaced them with those guys you mentioned in Jones and Tutt. Rogers was mates with Mick dating to his Collingwood days, you would have to assume that the decision to bring these sort of guys in would be a collective between coach and recruiting staff.

You have also had no progression like Temay for example which saw him delisted after 2 seasons? What about guys like Buckley and Graham that should be firmly in the 22 by now, especially in a rebuilding side, but are constantly being dropped while worse performers continue to get games. How bout the excuse for not playing Levi is he can't kick straight but Jones who is the worst or 2nd worst statistical shot on goal behind Cloke in the comp survived for 7 weeks? Then you have players like McInnes that showed a bit when given the chance but he was put in the scrap pile by Mick as were a lot of that 21-24 group that are supposed to be your next core group of guys

This doesn't include the game plan which was found out by the end of 2011 by Geelong and a failure to evolve when this gameplan was failing time and time again. You watch Carlton play right now and they are one of, if not the worst drilled team in the comp.
