Fair enough....but I saw it as a kick not a trip, looked like a fairly bad soccer slide to be honest.  Pretty much matches Ablett getting off last year for elbowing Picken in the head.  Like my mate said, the result doesn't matter, coz Fyfe will still go and hit someone high later in the year.

I must have seen different footage of this incident to the MRP. Ball not in area. Closed fist punch to the groin. Is this now an OK act when trying to "win position"? And why was it not rated at least in the mediun force bracket? . MRP continues on its own way of looking at things.
Rant over.. :-\

Agree Tdog so you can attack the groin now whilst trying to gain possession.  Players may have to start wearing cricket protectors now. ;)

I think some people over estimate the "intention" of players at times.

If you watch the footage Stevie J apologised immediately to McVeigh. Stevie J has never apologised for anything on the field which I think is a fair indication that he didn't "intentionally" hit him in the nuts.

I thought he just went to try and knock the ball out of McVeighs hands and missed horribly, lucky it wasn't James Kelly!  ;D

Apology as a defence?  I don't like it as a precedent.. ::)

I'm not saying it is a defence, I'm saying that people seem to be of the opinion he intentionally hit McVeigh in the nuts which IMO wasn't the case.

If he intentionally punched him in the nuts, he wouldn't have apologised, much the same as all the previous times he has intentionally hit someone :P
