I'm an OKC fan and even I thought we'd be done in 5 games against the Spurs. So unconvincing all season but have looked very good during playoffs. Shame we have to get through GSW to get a shot at the title

I've got to say I'm starting to like the look of OKC vs Warriors matchup.

2 of arguably the best shooters/scorers going around in Curry and Durant (personally I think they are 1 and 2, Durants had a few setbacks with injury, but before then he was #1)

The 2 best trip dub play makers in the league in Westbrook and Green

OKC would need a few more guys to step up to match it with Klay and Iggy too.

Would be a very entertaining series!

My Chumps

Definitely not functioning like we used to. This could be a sad end for one of the GOATs :(

Still hoping we can take it to 7!

Definitely a more "sexy matchup" than the SA jvalles

I'm still gobsmacked they ran Parker at Westbrook down the stretch repeatedly ???

Always thought Spurs had the best chance to knock off GSW, but definitely don't think so any more.  Duncan would play less than 10 minutes prob for the whole series!

If Spurs look like they are going to drop the next game, they'd surely have to roll with a lineup of Mills, Green, Kawhi and Aldridge with maybe Diaw or Duncan...can't let Parker or Ginobili in there any more.  Has to be Lamarcus or Kawhi that they go to.

Kanter is stepping up what they need is great rim protection from Ibaka and Adams and they stand a good chance. If Durrant and Westbrook are on the warriors wont stop them. I rate the spurs D over the warriors and the thunder are scoring reasonably easy.

quinny88

How can you rate anyone over the warriors when they have had a season like this? breaking all sorts of records. They are clearly the best team. I would love for OKC or the spurs to beat them but I cant see them doing it

My thinking was that the Spurs are a far better team than everyone bar Golden State, and would be the team most likely to force a game 6 or 7 vs the Warriors - but struggle to see them coming out on top. OKC I gave the best shot of actually beating GSW in a 7-game series (even though that still is small). Reason being, the Warriors have never really found an answer for Durant, he averages 30.9 points on 52% shooting, 47% on threes vs them in his career. They have solid rim protection and length on the defensive perimeter.

And I agree with you, Duncan would be pretty close to out of the rotation vs the Warriors. Or at least, I would not play him a single second when Steph is in the game. All they do is run a PnR with Steph and Duncan's man, they get the switch and then Steph blows right by Duncan, or they don't switch and you leave Curry in space. I'd only bring Duncan in when GSW go to their bench units, and he can live in the paint with Ezeli.

As for this series, I'm not too sure what the Spurs do. I presume they'll just shorten the rotation, cut Kyle Anderson's minutes, that guy just has no place in these playoffs. I'd roll with Mills - Green - Ginobiilli - Leonard - Aldridge down the stretch. Spurs just need some offense desperately because KD and Russ are always going to get theirs. I'm going to pick the Spurs to pull this out.

w0w really? ya still think they can pull it out :o

The plays they ran down the stretch looked so un Spurs like, un Pop like, no ball movement at all

Why they didnt go to LMA and his elbow post up or just plain iso Kawhi on whoever, Thunder were in the penalty last 3 minutes

jvalles69

If anyone can do it, it's Pop, but if Durant and Westbrook can keep their TO's well below double figures then no chance.  Over 10 TO's in the next 2 games between them and I think Spurs can take the series.

It's more of a gut feel than anything :-X I can see game 6 being a Westbrook "show" and can't back Donavon to out-coach Pop. Feels like a 7-game series to me.

Great point on how the Spurs offense is looking. This play from a couple of years ago is what jumps out at me when I think of the Spurs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BVNR8CWeoeI. Completely different style now.

Yeah course, and it is probably the best way to go with their personnel. Kawhi scored 0.99 points per possession in isolation over the regular season, ranked 6th in the league. And Aldridge ranked 10th in the league in 'post-ups' points per possession. Interestingly, Kawhi was 6th. Those two are their offensive weapons and aren't as much suited to the spacey, ball movement, pass up a good shot to get a great shot kinda system that the Spurs used to run.

Just interesting to note how much the style has changed in a short time. Shows how great a coach Pop is to be effective running any system.

My Chumps

Alridge was off all game today hence why we didn't go to the post late.

But yeah, I was screaming for them to give the ball to Leonard at the end there. Tony Parker was just...

Works offensively but someone gets absolutely bullied in that lineup on D + no boards. We got slaughtered on the boards. Turnover count was 20-7 and we still lost.

Honestly, the biggest issue emerging from this season IMO is TD isn't playing like TD. If he was playing like half of the guy we saw in the series vs the Clippers this would be so different. David West got bullied in game 4 when he played down the stretch. TD showed glimpses this morning but got monstered on the boards. Kanter is killing us on the glass.

Too many problems. Their guns are outgunning LMA + Kawhi. I wonder if Kawhi can play 45 minutes...
