Thats the difference in the west with OKC and Warriors, GSW have a game winner in Curry, OKC have Durant and to a slightly lesser extent Westbrook, I wouldn't say Spurs have a proven game winner now, but have such a solid team.

do they need a game winner?

I have always said there is no need to hit a game winner if you are up by 10

for the record I would say its Leonard. got to remember he does have the highest 3 point percentage in the league and a Finals MVP.

he can be a game winner on the other end of the floor with big stops.

That's what I meant, they have such a well rounded team they don't need one, but I think in crunch time if the games tight they don't have a proven guy to take the winning shot.  Manu was prob the guy in the past, but I'd say they give it to Kawhi now, although he hasn't proved he can win games like that in the way Russ, KD and Curry can.

do you think he has proven that he can stop others from winning games though?

If it was 1 on 1 Leoanrd would beat curry easy but they will probably screen him most of the time soo it wont be 1 on 1.

Yeah you can definitely look at it that way I guess, Kawhi on Curry/Durant, but we've seen Russ/Barnes/Klay hit game winners too so he can't guard them all, I think Kawhi is 1-2 years away from gaining that offensive killer instinct, although he might be forced to gain it now if these scenarios play out.  They do have Green too though who is a solid wing defender himself.

yep thats it i probably wouldnt want the ball in his hands yet for a game winner. But they are blowing teams off the court (biggest +/- ever) so maybe he wont have too.

Aldridge has shown to be pretty clutch as well if you need 2 points especially. I think they will win alot of games +5 points so there wont be a need. Remember 2014?

Yeah I was going to mention Aldridge, but as he's the new guy they might not necessarily want to put the ball in his hands yet, but I'd be relying on Kawhi and Aldridge for that game winner, will give them the confidence to keep doing it.

On the bright side, at least none of us are this dumb :P
i dont have an issue with the Phil statement, their strokes look similar, i dont think he is "comparing" them as the article seems to suggest...

but Oscar Robertson what in the blue hell have you been smokin? :o

He's saying that we've seen someone like Curry before, and I just don't agree with that.

But I agree, the Oscar comments are just completely outrageous  :-X

Out fishing this morning...gonna record the foxtel replay...going to watch it before my ball game tomorrow...then gonna go 1/18 from long range!  :P
haha ya definitely will after watching the crazy shooting in that game :D

So didn't have a chance to watch the game hit, but dropped 24pts and 5/7 from behind the arc!  ;D  I've picked up Curry's bad habit of pulling his hands away as he shoots the ball though!  >:(

My Chumps

I've said a few times that we're (Spurs) are surprisingly awful at closing out close games.

Kawhi did hit a game winner against the Magic the other day tho. Definitely think he's our guy in that situation but the only way he's gonna get it is if Parker doesn't touch it... dude refuses to pass.

yeah stylistically, statistically is just madness and i dont think Phil is that silly #benefitofthedoubt

jvalles69

So Whiteside is 23/25 from the free throw line...D'angelo Russell just blew up for 39 pts...and Warriors win another game with a fluke 3 this time without Curry...exciting times in the NBA!

Coach Scott probably thinks he took too many threes

really liking our run home, these smaller lineups were forced to run (no Bosh) are helping guys like Dragic and Deng get going

JJ looks like he is fitting in well so far 8)

I think Bosh is really underrated and that Miami can't go far without him, but things are looking positive since the Joe signing. I feel like D Wade is the guy who doesn't fit with the style they should be running  :-X

JBs-Hawks

How funny would it be if Miami could knock off  Cleveland

I think he may have been mis-interpreted.

Defence back then was a lot tougher because you could hand-check and body-check players and not be called for a foul.  So defenders could play closer to the man which makes it tougher to get a jump shot off (hence why someone like Larry Bird could take 200 odd 3pt'ers and be considered a lights out shooter).

In current day defence you can't hand-check or body-check a player (unless its in the post :P) so you have to be a step back from your opponent. This gives players space to take more long range jump shots.

That coupled with the quick release of Curry's shot means he can shoot so many more long range shots.
