My Chumps

Spurs!

Still think we are absolutely no guarantee to beat Golden State or OKC in the West, or Miami in the finals. Team isn't THAT good. Need Parker to find reasonable form/Patty Mills to go another level if we are to win the championship again.

A bit more on the LA trade

Lakers take Hibbert's $15.5M salary into space, likely send combo of 2nd round pick(s) and overseas players rights. @JeffZillgitt first.

Yahoo Sources: Pacers finalizing terms on a trade to send center Roy Hibbert to the Lakers. Hibbert's been informed he's headed to Lakers.

And to show how poorly the Kings are run

Kosto Koufas has almost identical per 100's with Jason Thompson they are the same age and Thompson makes 6 mill per year and Koufas makes 8 mill per year for the next 2 years....

Hayward contract and Varejao r the possible ingredients.
Then mid level exception on David West

Except that Jason Thompson can only play PF and has the same game style as Cousins - therefore it doesn't work.  Thompson is 2 years older than Koufos.

I think you need to re-look at the per 100
Kosta is better in:

Rebounds - Offensive & Defensive
Blocks
Steals
Points
FG%
Lower usage percentage
Opposition points in the paint - 12.3 compared to JT's 21.8

I think this is a solid signing, not a bad one but not an amazing one either.  We get some legitimate backup at PF/C with this pick, who is clearly better than Thompson or Landry.  A rotation of Cousins, Gay, WCS, Koufos, Casspi (if he re-signs) is a nice start - we could still do with another decent big as Reggie Evans and Eric Moreland (project player) fall away quite badly.

On the whole I think its been a solid trade period for the Kings (so far)

We got rid of some dead wood in Thompson, Landry and Stauskas, unfortunately it cost us some picks to do that but it did give us a lot of cap space ($36M)
Upgraded our defence - seeing as we have been at the bottom of the defensive ratings for about 10 years now (WCS, Koufos)
Brought in some shooting (Bellinelli)
Brought in another guard (Rondo)

The Rondo deal could be amazing or a complete utter failure, I dont see an in between here.  For a team that has been in the lottery for a long time, I think its a risk worth taking - esepecially as its only a 1 year deal.  If it fails we move on from it quite quickly, if it works then we will be in a race to keep him.

We still have around $10m left in cap space and only 14 signed for the season (if Casspi re-signs), so we can still add another decent Free Agent (rumour is J Smoove)

Bigs: Cousins, Gay, WCS, Koufos, Casspi, Moreland
Smalls: Rondo, Collison, McLemore, Bellinelli, Anderson, McCullum, Stockton

I know Jayman is not a fan of what we have done but when you assess the players we had versus what we have now - we have definitely upgraded.  Whether its enough to make a run at playoffs is another thing.

Edit:
I completely forgot about the signing on James Anderson.  Surely Anderson won't be on much money
Reggie Evans and Andre Miller are actually UFA's.  Edited roster accordingly
Casspi just agreed to 2 years @ $6m

Jay

Koufas is MUCH better than Jason Thompson...

Reggie Jackson - 5 years $80m extension with Detroit..... wow

In other news, Kings nearing agreement with Omri Casspi for $6m over 2 years.  I like that deal, good backup SF for Gay.

Considering what some players are getting, R-Jax is worth it, when moved to Detroit he showed that he's capable of being a triple double threat every night.

Reggie Jackson on the same money as John Wall just doesnt feel right to me.

Well when you put it like that!  :o  Wall will get more though with his next signing, he's contract must be a bit behind...

Honestly, I have been impressed with how the Kings have recovered after Wes Matthews signing in Dallas - I feel like he was their main target. The Rondo, Bellinelli and Koufas deals have been solid. Bellinelli and Koufas are low risk, they're solid NBA players. And Rondo, why not really. I'm not ready to give up on him, and on a 1-year deal, it's worth a punt. If he gets anywhere close to 2012 Playoff Rondo you have a steal.

the most important thing they have done is keep cousins at this stage so really they have had an ok offseason. I would rather him than randle and russell.
