Wes Matthews has signed with the Mavericks. Luckily Sacremento used basically all their assets to free up cap space ::)

Good call by Wes especially since Sacramento I think were offering $3 million more per year and an extra year. Big money for a guy coming off an even bigger injury. Wes is a gun though if the injury doesn't effect him.

Oh and the deal also sends Philly the right to swap picks in two future drafts. Seriously, this is the worst trade since the James Harden deal.

The Kings should just be disbanded if they continue this shower.

It's explained more here: http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2015/7/2/8882241/kings-trade-salary-cap-space-draft-terrible

You know who orchestrated the Harden deal?

Seeing him (a rival GM in our division) brainwash incompetent teams like this just depresses me as a Celtics fan.

He is amazing. They needed some outside shooting and that is what Stauskas brings. Saric comes over next year so they get their small forward, all they need is a PG and the cap room starts to free up.

The core will look like this

PG: TBD
SG: Stauskas
SF: Saric
PF: Embiid
C: Noel

You can rotate Okafor through there or even package one of the big guys in a deal for a star.

its taking a while they just need to get into a winning culture and could explode. maybe another top 10 pick this year though

got the Heat for the ring @76/1 a few weeks ago, into 36/1 now

I'm sorry, but I'm still not over this absolute fleecing of the Kings. If they desperately wanted to push for wins next year, why not just offer the EXACT same package to Denver for Ty Lawson? You can bet your bottom dollar that Denver would have jumped all over that. Would much rather Lawson than the CHANCE of signing a free agent. And look what happened, their targets: Wes Mathews and Monta Ellis have both signed with rival teams.

Or how about learning how to use the stretch provision. Which is when waiving a player, you can stretch the number of years they stay on your books, and at a reduced cap number. That would still have freed up enough cap space.

And what if Cousins does end up demanding a trade, suddenly all the pick swaps look in massive favour of Philly, who in the east could end up being better than Sacremento in a year or two.

While my team is drafting guys with 2nd round talent, and signing Amir Johnson - Philly pull this off. Unbelievable.

Hinkie has managed to do this in two seasons of actual games being played. The plan was 2-3 years of bottoming out and then use the all the assets they have acquired to get as much talent as possible. Brown has also been really good with the group, you are seeing improvement from these guys.

Jay, need I remind you that Mike Malone and Pete D'Alessandro are with the Nuggets now, definitely could be some bad blood there :P

Jay

I want to know how the phone call between Hinkie and Vlade went...

Hinkie: Alright we'll take on the Landry and Thompson contracts. But we want Stauskas.
Vlade: Yeah, sure!
Hinkie: And a future first round pick
Vlade: Why not!
Hinkie: We also want a right to pick swap
Vlade: Wait, you can do that?
Hinkie: Yes. We want two of them
Vlade: Deal! Oh and, what's Bynum's number?
