Aldridge has told Portland he won't be returning.

Is there anyway the Cavs can get him now love is gone?
In short, yes. But it would have to be in a sign-and-trade, as the Cavs won't have the space to sign him outright.
Aldridge doesnt suit the Cavs game, Thompson does, the Cavs want Deandre Jordan, then your talking about motherflowering rings :-X
Agreed. You know what team does suit Aldridge's game? The team apparently the #1 on his list - Spurs. Him and Timmy would just be sick 8) cap wise it would probably mean they would have to find a suitor for Splitter and let Danny Green walk.. But for Aldridge it's probably worth it :o
tbh its a sensational add on paper, only on paper...
again Deandre, Spurs have a ton of offense already and Jordan doesnt need it fed to him
Don't see it as a realistic option?  :-X
Let's just say that if I were a team in the west, I'd be very, very worried.
reasons?
Because it's possible for them to clear enough room to sign him. Then you've got a top 10 player going to a top 3 team. Rings.

Firstly, it's believed that Duncan will return and sign a 2-year deal worth roughly 6-7 million in the first year (he's taken major discounts before, he'll do it again.) http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-basketball/25226344/report-duncan-will-return-at-discount-to-help-spurs-chase-lamarcus-aldridge

The next step is Manu signing for the room exception, worth 2.8 million. Once they dump the Splitter contract and move Patty Mills (shouldn't be too hard - they are good players). Boom, that's 21 million in cap space - enough to offer Aldridge the max. And that's keeping Danny Green.

However, if they choose to let Danny Green walk, and the above guys sign for the aforementioned amounts, it becomes a whole lot easier. All they need to do is trade Mills and Anderson in order for them being able to pay Aldridge the max. I prefer this option, Splitter gives them a real solid defensive big man that they might need to play next to Aldridge (Duncan only plays 30 minutes these days).

Whenever a player as good as Aldridge is rumoured to be going to an already elite team, it's easy to scoff at it, but in this case... It's a very realistic scenario.

Oh right.. Yeah I hadn't really considered DJ moving teams.. He gets to catch lobs from the best pg in the league. I fear that if he went somewhere else, he'd be exposed offensively.

Don't think he actually wants any lobs from that guy any more.  I could see him going across the way to the Lakers to be honest!  Imagine the rivalry then!!!

Heard a few rumours that Danny Green is the one who's going to make room for Aldridge.  Spurs are going to be ridic with Timmy, Aldridge and Kawhi.

Its being reported that the Lakers are still interested in Cousins.  Apparently the Kings still want the same deal

#2 pick (D'Angelo Russell)
Julius Randle
Jordan Clarkson
+Future Picks

As much as I dont want this to happen it would give us an exciting young core to build upon

WCS
Randle
Gay
McLemore
Russell

Lakers could then go and sign Rondo as a free agent and have

Cousins
?
?
Kobe
Rondo

Definitely very interesting

My Chumps

Expecting Rondo, Cousins and Kobe to all get along is pretty  ;D

Would love that deal as a Kings fan tbh. Wouldn't touch it as a Laker.

This ^

A non-shooting, ball dominant guard next to Kobe is asking for trouble.

Jay

What is the dream scenario for your team this off-season? Keep it realistic..

Boston Celtics
1. Sign Greg Monroe - he is unrestricted, and will be leaving Detroit. Would become the 1a or 1b (depending on how you feel about Isaiah Thomas) on the team as soon as he walks in the door. I think he could be sold on being a top offensive option, for a great young coach wanting to make the playoffs consistently. We can offer him a max contract, and with the salary cap rising next year, it won't look like an overpay at all. He split his minutes half and half between centre and power forward last season - when he was playing centre he had a PER of 26.8. Puts him right up there with the upper-tier of big men

2. Monroe has two major flaws, he doesn't stretch the floor at all on offense, nor does he protect the rim on defense. That means he is best utilized next to a player who can do both of those things. Unfortunately, they are hard to find - only Serge Ibaka really comes to mind. But I'd be happy to settle with signing Josh Smith. At least drags some of the defense away from Monroe, and then on defense his atheticism makes him a real plus on that end.

3. Trade for Danilo Gallinari. Nuggets drafting Mudiay means they'll likely trade Lawson, and therefore, start their rebuild. At 26 years old and not too far away from unrestricted free agency - Danilo doesn't make much sense for them to keep, and it was reported he'd been put on the trading block. If it takes a late-first round pick, or Sullinger/Olynyk to get him - I pull the trigger. He's a really talented offensive player with great size, a shooting stroke, and the ability to put it on the floor.

4. Re-sign Jae Crowder. Let Brandon Bass walk. Crowder showed late in the season, and in the playoffs that he's a very solid NBA player. High motor, great competitiveness, tough defense and an improving 3-point shot. Bass has been great for us, giving 100% every night, but he doesn't fit anymore. Let him come off the bench for a contender, it would be best for both parties.

Leaves us with a starting five of:
Isaiah Thomas, Marcus Smart, Danilo Gallinari, Josh Smith, Greg Monroe

And a bench of:
Avery Bradley, Terry Rozier, Evan Turner, Jae Crowder, Jared Sullinger/Kelly Olynyk, Tyler Zeller.

That team could possibly win a playoff series, upping our reputation for future free agents. And we can get to the above situation without giving up our great assets - picks. In the next draft, we'll have our own pick, Brooklyn's pick, Memphis' pick and Dallas' pick. Plus cap space since Wallace's contract will come off the books.

I actually think Kobe is looking for Rondo, someone to get him shots, he keeps getting injured creating his own.

As a Celts fan, please no Josh Smith... Love the Gallo pick though, really like him as a player

Jay

Haha I strangely like Josh Smith.. Got so overrated that he kinda become underrated :P

Embiid out for Summer League per Hinkie. Says the issue is strange because Embiid feels 100%

There was a radio interview with Hinkie post draft

Everything was fine (MRIs showed proper healing) and he was playing games in the gym pretty much full go with no pain for a few weeks, then they went to get one more precautionary MRI for summer league and something didn't look right.  He's been to NY to see a specialist and is now heading to NC to get another specialist's opinion.
