Thinking about it, but the reality is that he wasn't in their best 22 a few weeks ago. Can't justify 400k for a fringe player.

He was in their best 22, just not being played.
If you're fit and not getting picked then you're not best 22.

I suppose you're right because the best 22 is that in the eyes of the coach, but in my own opinion, he is best 22 and would be at any other club, too.

Can we please have a poll added to this thread, "is he worth the risk?"

Certainly agree with you there, mate.

Can't believe we have to worry about a guy that's 400k and has banked 2 100+ games.
If he was at any other club he would be straight in my side but I'm so worried like others that he will get dropped at some stage

Cmon Barry get your son to come and play for Carlton I'm sure we can find the right match up for him!
They had their chance and couldn't get him to leave
Like any self-respecting bloke, he'd rather play in the twos instead of Carlton. I fully understand his sentiments.

If you wrote a list of the Swans best 22 players, he would be in it easily. If you begin to take players positions and team structure into account, suddenly he becomes a fringe player.

I can bring in Titch this week, and he is mighty tempting at 400k, but do we think he is a must?

I know he can score well, but I feel like I will always be nervous every Thursday night having to sweat if he will be dropped or not

His JS is making me think twice about getting him

Starting to think I might wait a few more weeks on him - and happily pay more for him if he continues to do well and cement a spot
more  mud than cement.    always likely to get dropped by muppets.   figure worst case ends up f7/f8

SYDNEY SWANS
Player   Injury   Estimated Return
Aliir Aliir   Knee   Available
Isaac Heeney   Ankle   Test
Alex Johnson*   Knee   Indefinite
Lloyd Perris   Knee   1-2 weeks
Sam Reid   Calf   Test
Updated: Tuesday, May 5

Very small injury list and only Bird, Cunningham and Towers to compete with at this stage. Now that Heeney is out for 6 weeks I reckon he's JS is pretty solid cause most likely Bird will take his spot and that just leaves Cunningham to compete with really cause Towers is a definite fringe player. Then if Cunningham was to come into the side I think the old stager Goodes would be first to get dropped. I'll have me one Tom Mitchell in exchange for one Jesse Hogan

Goddard for sure over Titch. Job security not in question and he can score well, plus has a really low BE this week so is going to go up.

Article about him on afl.com.au today

He is a SC gun for sure, and I want him because 400k for his output is gold, but I am not touching him

He could get dropped in a months time, 2 months time, whenever

Having to sweat the Thursday night teams every week isn't worth it for mine. I'll spend the extra 130k and get Goddard

JBs-Hawks

I brought him in Saturday morning, very happy with his 125 and happy to ride the rollercoaster and see how it goes. Risk and reward!
