I hope so. Looks good so far. Im not convinced about others in the price range.

I'm going with this setup as well, had in locked in since i made my team.

Ablett, Bartel/selwood and Mitchell are my premiums. Martin, Barlow and Connors are my starting rookies. Knock it all you want, but at least its different.

Yep.  There's going to be a group of us either sitting pretty out the front, or backmarking all year with our rookies who aren't playing watching the midprice horde rack up the points.  Death or glory :)

My current version:

Goddard-Duffield-Enright-Bock-Grimes-Hodge-Waters (Maguire, Silvagni)
Montagna-Bartel-Martin-Barlow-Morabito-Jetta (Shuey, Howlett)
Sandilands-Clark (Warnock, McNamara)
Riewoldt-ROK-Pavlich-Harvey-Gia-Wright-Rockliff (Podsiadly, Roberts)

$38,600 left, which gives me room to mess with the benches once we get the squads for round 1, and to go Duffield->Hargrave if there's cash remaining (as a matter of policy, I want more exposure to the Dogs in this team and less to Freo).

Those were my thoughts. Alot of people dont like the strategy but at least my team is different.

I hope we will all be sitting pretty in the coming rounds. Good Luck.

hi guys, i will be going with 4 rookies on the ground and two on bench in the mids. at the moment i have ablett (c), swan (vc), trengrove, martin, barlow, morabito--------farmer, rohan. what i have catered for though is the multi player positions. having farmer c/b and rohan c/f on bench allows me to move them with goddard, hodge, gram in the backs, and okeefe, pav, ziebs, and danger in the fwds. gives me the flexibility incase they get rested or dropped. most people i assume will have 2, 3 or 4 rookies on the ground anyway, you may aswell have the best available rookies in your team. i have no other rookies on the ground, and only 4 other rookies in my entire squad. 1 in backs and rucks, 2 in fwds.

Bluevoodoo, having two teams makes you a dirty cheat. You most likely suck anyway, but if any team called bluevoodoo is going well in the overall comp, lookout!
One team each, people.

Suicide. Having 5 midfield rookies will bleed you dry of trades and while you will make cash you won't have much to choose from re upgrades

In the end it doesn't really matter how many rookies you pick, as long as you have 15 potential keepers. This leaves you 7 upgrades (14 trades) and 6 trades to try and cover injuries/underperformers. The risk with picking too many rookie midfielders is that you're missing out on the highest scoring players on the ground. However, if you think you've got premium players in other parts of the ground that will get similar scores to some of the gun midfielders then go for it. I think there is less risk going for it this year as there are a plethora of midfield rookies and not a lot of forward/defender rookies. It's just a matter of picking the right ones at the right time, and that all comes down to luck. I'm starting two rookie midfielders on the ground in my team and hoping that they either become keepers or my reserve rookies make me enough money to upgrade them or others. With so many rookie midfielders this year I think there's a fair chance that downgrades to other 2 or less game rookies throughout the season will still give me a lot of possibilities.
As long as your starting squad has 15 potential keepers you're in with a chance if lady luck is on your side.

Its not the worst plan I've heard. Think about it, you wont be able to upgrade to elite players like Ablett. by the time your rookies get to a decent ammount 150+ you will have to sell at least 3 of them to get a good player.

In the end you will only be able to get 1 or 2 150+ midfielders.

I'm going with the rookie load-up in the mids.  risky, but this is the year where it may be viable, for some interesting reasons.  consider:  you have 5 weeks of the season before judd moves price wise.  get two rookie mids to perform well in weeks 1-5 and you'll be in the ball park.  in fact, i have some money left over and depending how judd starts the year he may even be in reach for a one-to-one swap.  mcveigh is kinda similar, though he only misses a week and so the timeframe to achieve much isn't great.  plus, i disagree that there may not be many downgrade options.  melksham will play senior footy at some point, lucas is on the verge in carltons named side, cunnington will be online later in the year etc.  the big gamble is whether a couple of big guns start slowly and fall to be in range before hitting form again.  if they do, the cashcows will pay off.  err, hopefully  ;D
