QuoteThe American National Football League (NFL) has reached a landmark settlement which could see it pay around $1 billion to both former and current players.

Quote"It's about a $765 million pool of money that will be filled in by the NFL over the next 20 years to manage claims by people who are affected by concussion litigation or concussion disability issues both now and in the future."

The full cost of the settlement could reach around $1 billion and some of that money will go towards medical exams and concussion research.

Could this happen in sports in Australia especially in AFL, League and Union??

The price of Pies might go up again

Considering how fried guys like Jim McMahon are and then you have others like Andre Waters that committed suicide due to severe depression which they linked back to brain trauma I would say it is only a matter of time. Waters brain tissue had degenerated into that of an 85-year-old man with similar characteristics to those of early-stage Alzheimer's victims at 44 years of age. Someone like Diesel could have a legitimate case. It is not going to help his quality of life going forward but a settlement could at least see future medical costs covered, especially for those before the 'professional' era
