Big Mac

Chasing last week's points imo

kilbluff1985

sure get him in as you next defense upgrade

but no to a sideways trade

shaker

Hahaha chase the points same with Roughy and Neale and previously Walker get Hodge I've had since the start but don't think he is going to score anywhere near that again this year

Doggoneit

if Hodge finishes in the Top 6 defenders it will be due to that 177 which you have already missed

Goosey

Already seen so many trading in players after big scores, it doesn't work, chasing points is fools gold, look for the next big scorer, don't pick the last big scorer.

This exactly

Plus a good chance of resting at the business end if the season

You people aren't serious? What's not to say he won't go big again? Look at his past 10 - 11 year averages he's so consistent. He's already averaging the highest score in defence ( I know it's only been 3 rounds but he is still doing well). He's playing for the premiership favourites and coming off a year where he won the Premiership and Norm Smith Medal. Chasing last weeks points? Comparing trading Hodge into your team to bringing in Taylor Walker or Neale? This is laughable. I'll be getting Hodge in for sure and even if he scores 60 next week I wont be fazed because I don't judge a player off one performance, if we did that we would run out of trades by round 15. If you were to select the top 6 defenders for 2015 how can you not name Hodge based on what we have seen this year from defenders? You couldn't. Hodge, Shaw, Smith are looking to be the top three so far and the next three are still anyone's guess.

I guess Newnes, Lambamba and Simpson/Malceski or even Big Mac-Govern as a smokie.

Newnes won't be anywhere near the top 6, will be lucky to crack 85.

No one said he can't go big again but it's probably chasing points a little considering he hasn't gone that big for 7 years or played a full season for 7 years.
He's an upgrade option for some point in the season absolutely, but I wouldn't go wasting trades to get him straight in right away based off an out of the bag performance like that which you already missed

Hodge was 7th last year with an injury affected score of 34 in Round 2. He's easily capable of finishing in the top 6.

Hawthorne also has the least amount of defensive injuries in a couple seasons so he'll be playing mostly in the guts. This is why I started with him.

Barring injury he'll be closer to the no.1 defender this year for average, but due to being rested 1 maybe 2 times later in the season (Hawthorne *sigh*) he might only be top 6 for overall points.

His scores are gradually declining, his averages from the last 10 years are: 135, 103, 110, 118, 91, 116, 106, 86 (injury affected), 97, 92. He's not getting younger, and yes, you're absolutely right, he's incredibly consistent. Which means I expect he'll average 90-95 again this year, not the 119 he's currently sitting on. So on the back of that 177, law of averages says he's going to have a really bad game sometime, and I'll look at bringing him in then, which will hopefully be when my cash cows have fattened and I'm upgrading my defense... No way am I going to panic to get him in right now when his price has just gone up because of a score that I really truly don't believe he'll get close to the rest of the season. That's the first time in the last 3 years he's gone over 150...

"Hawthorne" Makes me sigh

Plus i love Hodgey, he is a legend. He'll end up finishing as a top 6 back and thats why you should jump on. But if he wasn't on your radar last week then he shouldn't be now. Score chasing in SC is what separates the experienced from the new

Ricochet

I'd look to upgrade to Hodgey from a rookie mate, wouldn't use a correctional trade on him.
