Gotta hold him.

I've worked out the perfect formula for rucks in 2015...

Start with Goldstein as R1, then randomly pick one of Mumford, Jacobs, Maric, Minson, Naitanui or Sandilands to fill R2.

Still think the top 3 will be Goldy, Jacobs and Mumford, but at this stage there is only one 'must have' in there.

no love for Martin? will do better then Maric

He's definitely in there now that Leuey seems out of favour

hawkboy80

so now we've had 3 weeks to assess, do ppl still think mummy can avg over 100 ? he's had 3 pretty average opponents so far & avg is 89

kfewster

I'm still confident he'll come good.

Breaking down his stats (too serious) - he has had games of 98, 108 & 61.

He has averaged 34 hit outs per game (not sure how many went to advantedge/opposition) and the last two weeks he has averaged 6.5 possessions which is great for a ruckman.

The only thinking effecting his scoring is he needs to be take a few more marks around the ground and get more kicks then handballs.

I think in hindsight we need to scale back our expectations for Ruckman scoring this year (Goldstein who is the top ruckman has only scored 100, 154 & 110) - In the 154 game he had 37 hit outs, 8 tackles, 7 marks, 1 goal and 23 disposals which is a Fantastic result.

If my rucks can consistently avg between 100-115 each week from what I've seen the first 3 weeks I'll take that as a win and load up more in my mids instead.

Cheers

Kain

Did you really mean 6.5? because that isn't great.

I've got him and intend keeping him so long as there is no large suspension or LTI. I think he can find better form than he is showing and believe that he and Goldy will be in the top 4 rucks at the end of the season. Haven't got a bloody clue who the other two will be but watching the development of Blicavs with a great deal of interest. Cheers.      :)

So if you started with Mummy and Maric.....would you drop one for Goldy now though?
I have and won't be.

Maybe later down the track if they're both still really struggling and Goldy is killing it, but it's only Round 3 so I'm not pulling the trigger on a trade in the rucks just yet.

kfewster

LOL my bad guys - 6.5 avg tackles the past two weeks.....I was on I-phone.

No way, definitely keep Mumford!

Assuming Goldstein is your other ruck, I wouldn't bother trading him. Blicavs had that score of 124 the other week too only because he kicked the winning goal.

Mummy will still be a top 5 ruckman.

Who is your other ruck?

I would still be inclined to hold, re-assess after the bye rounds when your team is about completed. That trade could come in handy down the track.

Hold. You've got two keepers. Upgrading rookies on other lines should be the priority.

Mummy is getting you 91 av at the moment, but he has a high ceiling and will probably average 100 by year's end. You're chasing Goldy's potential 120 average. The 20 points can be gained elsewhere, whilst also getting someone with a potential high ceiling. ( Vandenberg will average around 90 for example, so an upgrade to a super premo will get you 25 points +, and it's a trade you need to make in the end, Mummy isn't.

kfewster

If you have SC Gold - Averages for rucks as of round 3.

1. Goldstein - 129.50 (Price: $615,500)
2. S.Martin - 100.00 (Price: $558,400)
3. Blicavs - 98.25 (Price: $428,500

Mummy - Ranked #7 - Avg 91.00 (Price: $538,000)

I think its fairly clear the ruck Advantedge has had more of a negative impact then most expected.

Goldstein is clearly the #1 ruck in the game at the moment,  even Sam Jacobs who I think has been up there the past few years of hit outs to Advantedge is only averaging 97.75.

My view - With Mummy already dropping $75k I think you need to hang tough and hope he can slightly increase his possessions as he increases his match fitness over the rest of the year.

For $600k+ I'd be more confident of a premo mid getting 115+ each week then the top3 rucks at the moment.

Who do other people think?
