I figured GC were anticipating Dixon leaving last year, hence drafting Wright who wasn't a need at the time. They also still have Lynch, Day and a few others. I think they need that medium tall not another KP

If Day is a full time CHF, GC will never win a premiership. And Wright is so much better in the ruck (Well was in his U18 year), not too sure about his year in the 2s. I'll probably do my first mock draft around Friday or Saturday or a tad later (Depends if I get blind...)

Got bored. Thought i'd do the first round really quick. Not too much thought put into it.

1. Carlton - Jacob Weitering (Must have, need that key defender more than a key forward)
2. Brisbane Lion - Josh Schache (Has pretty much said he wants to play for Brisbane)
3. Melbourne - Darcy Parish (Obviously the best mid outside the academy boys)
4. Essendon - Aaron Francis (Utility who can play both ends of the ground with ease)
5. Essendon - Charlie Curnow ( Key Forward/Tall Midfield Hybrid, worth the punt)
6. Gold Coast - Rhys Mathieson ( Strong inside midfielder to support GC if O'Meara or Prestia leave)
7. Melbourne - Sam Weideman ( Key Forward to support Jesse Hogan over the next 10+ years)
8. Carlton - Harley Balic (Slick outside midfielder, could combo well with Cripps.)
9. Adelaide - Wayne Milera (Decent replacement for Dangerfield, smart midfielder who loves a goal)
10. Greater Western Sydney - Used for Academy
11. Western Bulldogs - Keiran Collins (Losing Talia, and will probably take best player available. and hard to pass on a key defender of his skill)
12. Richmond - Callum Ah Chee (I don't think Richmond can rely on Sam Lloyd for a small forward, and Ah Chee can do midfield stints)
13. Adelaide - Harry McKay ( A tall forward who can let Taylor Walker move up the ground which he has slowly been doing this year.)
14. St Kilda - Clayton Oliver (Stoppage beast, exactly what the Saints need now.)
15. Hawthorn - Riley Bonner (Possible Smitch replacement. Awesome on both sides, can easily transfer into a pure mid)
16. Gold Coast - Ryan Burton (Going off what you boys said before, easily the best medium sized forward 191cm, if he played all year could of easily gone top 5.)
17. Brisbane Lions - Used for Academy Players
18. Hawthorn - Darcy Tucker ( Could mold him into the Burgoyne type when he retires, quick and strong all in one)

Weideman seems the most obvious choice at pick 7, but you rated him 20th in your power rankings before - What are your thoughts on him?

I think Day is the swingman, Lynch is the CHF and Wright is the deepest forward. They will then play one of Currie/Nicholls in the ruck, they have a few small guys with the mids like Gaz rotating through, I still think they need the combo guy to help the forward line function.

The only reason I rated him 20th was because he missed too much of the year. But the start of the year was pretty solid, kicked 9 goals in 5 games (But that included a 5.2) and took a fair few contested marks before his injury. I put him at 7 in the mock draft is because you guys are picking for position, you desperately need that secondary key forward to put the weight off Hogan just a bit. The talent is definitely there, just need to get his body right and he will be very serviceable for a long time man.

Do you guys think Carlton should considering McKay with pick 8? (Assuming we don't get pick 12) as although he should probably go at mid teens we really need someone to fill that full forward/ pinch ruckman role. I guess if we can snag Tomilson today it would be alright!

One thing that will be interesting to watch on draft night is where the bidding for academy and father/son picks fall. As it will be live clubs have to decide quickly whether they have enough points with later draft picks to match.  Lions should be OK if Keays goes no earlier than 10 and Hipwood no earlier than 14. Still dome trading to play out today though.
So Brisbane's first 3 should be Schache, Keays and Hipwood and then maybe some late picks. (Not sure whether we will take Williams or Choi in Draft or Rookie list).

I'll be a little annoyed if Essendon draft two utilities... Hope we take one of Francis/Curnow and Balic seeing as Parish is now out of our reach (flowering Melbourne)

Really? I figured you would take both talls

We need another midfielder more desperately than a second tall out of this draft. We already have Kyle Langford as well.

Curnow could very well be a Midfielder mate. Be stupid to let them both slide. But never know, Melbourne could jump on Curnow themselves.

If Curnow can run like his brother that would be alright.
