I didn't watch the big game of Schache v Weitering. But by the looks of the best on and goals kicked, Weitering was given 2nd best on and Schache only kicked 1 goal. So i'm assuming he won? Keeps things interesting.

One scribe called the Jacob Weitering-Josh Schache battle a “dream match-up for recruiters’’. It was hyped like a heavyweight fight.

But circumstances conspired against a face-off between Stingrays defender Weitering and Bushrangers key forward Schache.

The conditions were poor and, such was the Stingrays’ dominance through the midfield, Schache got a good look at the ball only when he went into the ruck.

In the first quarter Weitering stood Schache. In the second the 199cm left-footer went to full forward, where he was opposed by the Stingrays’ other highly regarded key defender, Kieran Collins.

Schache did boot Murray’s first goal, with a kicking style that looks as pure as rain.

But it came at the seven-minute mark of the third term, by which time the Stingrays had slotted six, the match in their keeping.

The Bushrangers quickly got two more goals through Dylan McDonald, but the Stingrays steadied through James Freeman and went on to a convincing victory.

As for Weitering, he was outstanding with 10 marks, getting to the best position by reading the play like a book. Inside Football draft analyst Brett Anderson described his performance as “imperious’’. Anderson has Weitering at No 1 on his draft board, and Schache at 2.

Weitering was the bulwark of a backline featuring Collins (whose build makes the Incredible Hulk look like a pipsqueak), Brandon White, Tom Glen, Sam Pickess and Lachie Batten, who cleaned up more spillages than a fireman.

^^ from the Herald Sun, but to be fair the conditions were atrocious for a KPF and wasn't really a fair match up considering that as well as the fact that the Bushrangers were killed through the midfield

Well even 10 marks in a game is really handy. Let alone in showerty conditions like that. Weitering looking great. Kieran Collins looks ready for AFL action by the looks of it. Geelong will be on his tail on a heart beat. And Carlton would absolutely love Weitering.

Big Mac

Do you think Curnow can become a midfielder?

And do you see the dees taking a defender over a mid? Or is it more just 'best available' rather than 'needs'?

Cheers  :)

Well coming from sources he is even taller than what i've put there. Apparently around the 194/195 mark. So I don't see him being a midfielder, just a super mobile forward.

Well I think for your first pick, you'd go for best available, mainly if it is Aaron Francis. Be stupid to let him slide through your team. But if he were to be gone, I wouldn't be surprised if you guys got Darcy Parish for some real nice outside run.

Adelaide = Callum Ah Chee, watch it happen!

I don't see you guys desperately needing another small fwd/mid. A second tall forward in the works would be better suited. But I wouldn't be surprised if you did go Ah Chee. Big chance to become an anything player.

Bill Manspeaker

we might be having the Parish Cup game next week after all!

I think we get a top 2 pick. Basically these are the games that will shape the ladder

Lions vs North at the Gabba - North lose games they should win including this game last year up in Queensland. In fact their record in Queensland has been horrible in recent memory

Q-Clash II - Gold Coast win they probably finish on top of Carlton, Brisbane win they probably get a top 2 pick but might force the Blues out to 3

Brisbane vs Carlton @ Gabba - another game up in Queensland, this would probably be the Lions last winnable game and is a two game swing for a top two pick

GC vs Dons @ Metricon - GC win this and the Q-Clash it could have them jump 2 spots at the end of the season. Carlton would need to win 2 more games and GC will have the superior percentage when the Blues play teams like the Hawks twice more

Carlton vs North - Like the Lions game, North lost one they should have won, I probably think they win this but this is one of about 4 'winnable' games Carlton have left for the year

Carlton vs Melbourne - Dees are all over the shop so who knows how this goes.

Giants vs Carlton @Spotless - I would back the Giants in this but it is a while away and considering the injury list it is one they could drop

kilbluff1985

you guys are trading it for Carlisle

Won't be the end of the world if we don't get Parish. Because Billings (And Lachie Weller  :P ) can become that Elite outside midfielder, and we can just get my fav of the year Mathieson to help Steven, Armo and Dunstan do all the dirty work.

Carlton has a lesser % than Suns so if Suns win one more game than Carlton Carlton could finish 17th. As you say our two games against Blues and Suns may define whether we get pick 1 or not.  Brisbane has the worst % of all and with no hope should seriously consider sending injured players under the knife early and get more games into kids such as Liam Dawson, Hammelman, Freeman and co and not worry about position.
