one week until the draft and i'm very excited for what it's worth i think we will take Aaron Francis and Clayton Oliver which i know means no Weideman or Curnow but i think Francis is a lock and don't see us taking 2 KPP's
I still think you guys will get Francis and Curnow (if Melbourne take Parish). Both a versatile enough that they can be whatever you guys wants them to be. Francis will probably start as a tall defender (only 191cm though, so like 3rd tall) and Curnow most likely will start forward, but both could end up being mids. Francis has the potential to be Goddard like.

Well I now have inside gossip on Clayton Oliver, I'm about 90% sure of where he is going ( Thanks to his brother on FB haha)

Read a post on BigFooty yesterday saying he's a certainty to end up at Carlton. Not overly surprising if true, but I'm not taking anything from BF as gospel.

It's much before Carlton's 2nd pick.

It'll be in my Mock Draft, i'll try get it up before Sunday.

So it would probs be Essendon then.

Interesting that.

However, if the Dees took Curnow. Then you'd think the Bombers would go Parish and one of Francis/Weideman, which means he wouldn't end up there.

Why? It's not world-changing news... haha

If it were posted on facebook, what's stopping a team with an earlier pick seeing it and selecting him haha

Imo, it all comes down to the night, nothing before hand can change that unless it's the team with the no. 1 pick (and I doubt Carlton will forego either Weitering or Schache for a contested mid that they still have a chance at with pick 9).

I would say the teams likely to get him are, Essendon (pick 5), GCS (pick 6 - I see them going for a Balic/Milera type), Demons (pick 7 if Weideman isn't available), Carlton (pick 8 - most likely) or the Crows (pick 9 - but I see them going for more of a Balic/Milera type).

I would say the most likely is;

Carlton at pick 8, but that depends mainly on Essendon, Gold Coast, & the Dees (if he slips past 8, the Crows will take him)

I will be shocked if the Dees get him at pick 3. Clayton Olivers come every 2-3 years, Darcy Parishs are once in a decade midfielders (any big can play a contested role - it comes down to quality - while not many players can play an effective uncontested role - those that have the talent are then separated by durability - Polec is a good recent example, superstar potential in the uncontested role, however his body really holds him back, Freeman is another example)

Yeah it was the Dons with 4/5 haha. Be interesting if Melbourne pick Curnow instead of Parish... Surely Dons would jump on Parish/Weideman?

Yep, I feel this will happen if the Dees opt for Curnow.

Chances are one of Curnow/Weideman will be there at 7 so I'd be surprised if we took one at 3

Essendon definitely take Parish if we skip him though

+1 agree with all of this

I don't see the Dees letting Parish slip (I think he was the sole reason why they traded for pick 3 to begin with). I have the Dees getting Weideman with pick 7 - this will of course depend on the picks in between, but if the Dons let either Francis or Curnow slip, GCS should snatch them.

The problem with Weideman at pick 7 is the Gold Coast. They have Lynch, Day and Wright, but after losing Charlie Dixon, I could see them opting for the best key forward available - however, if I had to bet on it I would say they will select a talented half-forward/mid (a Milera or Balic type similar to Jack Billings, Robbie Gray, or Lids etc. or Paul Ahern if comparing to last year's crop)

But with Dixon gone, and Weideman possibly being the best available at pick 6, I would not be surprised if Gold Coast pounced. But again, if I had to bet, Weides should slip to the Dees second pick
